I am surprising my DS age 12 with a 2 week trip to Disney in Nov. for his birthday. I am so excited I could just bust!I only have to keep the secret for 100 days! I got a great deal at Allstar Sports ($54.88 a night AP discount.) I am using Disney Club card to purchase AP's .I also have AAA membership. Now I need help with the food budget. How much is reasonable? I had thought about Connections vouchers, but I don't want a hassle when I try to use them. Are they really worth the trouble? This will be our first time to visit Disney and I don't want to feel like we have to skimp. I know he will be thrilled just to be there, but I don't want to under budget for food. We have to eat a good breakfast or we get snappy. Not a pretty sight.Cereal won't do, we just have to have eggs, bacon, toast, orange juice. When people say they eat breakfast in the room do they mean they order room service?I hate to sound so stupid but I just want to make sure I understand. Please give me some suggestions for food budget. We are flying and will not rent a car(tiffany towncar so we can stop at grocery). Also any suggestions for his birthday ie cake, where to eat things to do would be appreciated.

Here is my budget for the 4 of us for 10 days (we go next year)
$30 for breakfast
$100 for lunch (sit down)
$50 for dinner
$20 for snacks

I'm hoping I'm either high or right on target.

Why don't you go to the one site that has helped so many figure out what to bring as far as money goes for food.

GOOD LUCK! I've left the link below. Let me know how it works.

DISNEY RESTAURANT MENUS

One more thing...when people say they eat in their room, typically they mean that it's something they brought from home or from a local grocery store...pop tarts, applesauce, fruit, or things like that! That just won't do for DH or myself either! :jester: Check out those menus. I think the breakfast buffets might do both of you well for the money. ;)

One more thing....where ya from?? If you're a resident of FL you can get the Disney Dining Experience card and save 20% off of meals at selected restaurants throughout the resort. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MINE!! :p

Thank you minnieandmickey I will plan on $125 a day.
Thank you tiggerlover91 I went to the sight and picked out some great places to dine and I am from Ky. I wish they would have buy one dinner get one free. I can dream!

If you can grab something quick first thing in the morning and then make a late reservation for Breakfast buffets, you will actually be eating two meals at one time. You won't be hungry until dinner. And then instead of a big dinner eat lunch as your big meal. Lunches are cheaper, and eat those later in the day. Also check out the buffet at fort wilderness for lunch. We have not eaten there yet but I plan to on our next year trip. Good luck and enjoy the menus.
For the buy one get one, you could get the entertainment book and the all star cafe at the wide world of sports is in there. That alone won't justify the book but you may find someplace else, like jungle jim's. You can see list on the entertainment website http://www.entertainment.com/index.cfm

goofygirl2,
I wish they would have buy one dinner get one free. I can dream!

I do not know how this would work out for you and your 12 year old son (my DS is almost 14--and at age 12, I found that he started eating me out of house and home!)....but, anyway, the portion sizes at WDW are generally very large. Quite often, my DH and I will share an entree and just add a salad--leaving enough room to enjoy dessert!

Good luck to you!
