Need help with cover letter for job please!

I have been very fortunate in the past with doing my dream job, SAHM. But with the economy and a deduction in DH income I went back to work to try to help out. The one job I applied for I got, I have been there for 19 months but that job isn't working out for several different reasons, being alot longer hours than I was originally hired for and the fact that my boss (the Dr.) doesn't give raises....ever (that's is why he has a turn over about every 12 months ) so I'm in the hunt for another job. I have 9 yrs experience before I had my children and have now been back in fulltime work force for yr and half but the job I am wanting to apply for says they want a cover letter,resume and salary requirement. Can anyone help me with a cover letter and what do you put for salary...I mean I don't want to say 12.00/hr and they were planning on paying 14/hr I thought about negotiable just on the resume and not in the cover letter but wasn't sure if that would work. This job is also partime (2 full days a week) which is what I really would like to have. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

Definitely submit what they ask for. If someone does follow the directions in my ad, chances are I'm not even going to consider them for the position - there are just too many people applying right now.

That said it is perfectly acceptable to put down a salary range and state that it is negotiable.

I agree with the previous poster-you have to put something...While I was job hunting after graduating from college (for the second time for a second career) I came across these and was told by the man I worked with on career searching that you have to answer it...but you can say that you are negotiable. That way if they want to offer $14 you don't cut yourself short at $12
