Need help with buying a new camera

I am thinking of purchasing a Canon Powershot SX30IS. Any thoughts on this camera? All opinions welcomed, leaving for WDW Oct 14 and I need a new point and shoot. At the same time, I am wanting one with a better zoom than my old one but not ready for an SLR. My old camera is a Canon Elph 2000 series. TIA

I am going through the same thing right now. I cannot decide between the Canon SX30IS and the Fuji Finepix F550EXR.

The Canon has the solid feel and a few more features than the Fuji but the Fuji can slip in and out of my pocket easier. AND the Fuji has a 15x zoom. Not something you find on most slim point and shoots. But like I said, the Canon has a few more features that the Fuji does not. Right now I'm leaning more toward the Fuji.

Also, my daughter recently bought herself a Nikon D3000 but she has a Canon S20IS and she really loved that camera.
