I switched to bare escentuals foundation and mineral veil. I really like the feel and what it has done for my complexion. The problem is it makes me look too powdery, Any idea of what I can do?

I love the product and have never experienced the too powdery problem. The only thing I can think of is perhaps you're putting in on a little too heavilty. I swirl my brush, tap off, then do a circular motion on my face..repeating until I have the desired effect. I do think it works better to tap and swirl many times, rather than to load the brush up with a lot of powder at one time.

I don't know your procedure, but I know I love my Bare Escentials.

Have you tried the tinted mineral veil? I found that with my light skin, it gave me a more finished look.

You can always mix warmth with the mineral veil too. Gives the same effect.

Sorry to hijack but I dont the this board can take another BE question........I have always loved BE but now I feel like it is very messy and most of it winds up on my sink or floor. At first I leave the little seal on the top then I even replaced with tape until it came off. Now I have tons of product floating around.

I really wish she would change to container. Any suggestions?

As for looking pwdery just go a little lighter. They always say if you can see it on the brush you have too much !

I'm guilty of often not taking the time to repeatedly tap and swirl, sometimes I look too powdery. The tap and swirl really works. Maybe try a primer?

great idea to mix in warmth. I may try that because I have all this warmth I never use because it seems too dark.

I also think it sounds like you're putting too much on. I know when you're applying, that first layer doesn't seem like much, but it really is! Make sure you are hitting your trouble spots with the small brush before you do overall coverage with the buki brush. I don't use much mineral veil at all either. I just do a light sweep over my face at the end.

As for the containers, I haven't had a foundation container with the sticker cover in quite awhile. Mine have the dial to open/close the holes now. I switched to matte finish a few months ago. Do the regular BE containers not have the dial? My blush/all over face colors still have the sticker cover, which I don't put back on. However, I store them in small drawers in the bathroom, so they never tip to spill out into the lids.

Not sure when you switched but there are two kinds of base now. I know we were using the old one and went in one day and my mom tried the newer version and it made her look "powdery" I'm sorry I can't remember the names of the two different bases. But, it might be worth going in and asking the associates about it.

Also, about the messy-ness. I know they made some alterations to the containers recently. You might want to check them out!

There is the regular and matte, the matte when used too heavily leaves a bit of a powdery residue. "swirl, tap, buff" you will get your desired results, but as others have said, do not load up the brush too much to start with, better to swirl and tap a few times to get your desired look.

They just changed the top of the container. It now has a lid that has like 3 or 4 holes and you can turn it to open it and close it! I am really excited about it because the only thing I didn't like about BE was trying to travel with it.

for work and travel, I refill the little sample sized containers with base and the veil. I'm always in a rush in the am and tend to do my makeup in the parking lot at work. That's my only complaint about BE, the messiness and difficulty taking it with you.

I had a sample of the matte, and I did not like the way it looked. Are you using the matte version? I have never looked powdery using the original foundation.

I just put my make up on and I used a lot less. It looks better. I think I was using too much. I am going to play around with it because I really want it to work. I might order the original foundation to see if that makes a difference. Might tint my veil like suggested, too. Thanks for all the advice.

seal your makeup with a mist of mineral water spray.

I've never heard that one. I have a friend who is a makeup artist and she says to lightly spritz your face with hair spray to set your makeup. I've never actually done it, but I've seen her do it. Her makeup still looks freshly applied many hours later.

Where do you find the best deal on bare excentuals?? It's kinda $$ isn't it?

Also I've heard that if it looks powdery you may need the next darker color. BE is very forgiving, but if you continue to have problems, you may need to try a different shade.

I know makeup artists use hairspray for fashion shows and shoots sometimes. But sealing your makeup with a mist of water gives you a light dewy finish and I find it sets my makeup.

I LOVE B.E!
They do have outlets you can try, some things are a lot cheaper there. It's the one thing I will spend money on.
