need help with banking and borrowing

OKay here is our story. We plan on biying a DVC contract in January-February 2008. We also know that we want to take a trip January 2009. So say we get a non stripped contract with 100 points with a december uy. When I call to make my reservation in say March how do I get 300 points? I want to bank 2008 years, use 2009 years and borrow 2010 points. Does this make sense. Do I have to wait until December 2008 to make reservations using those three years worth of points? Thanks for some clarification

With a December use year, a January 2009 vacation falls within the 2008 use year (12/1/2008 - 11/30/2009).

So for that trip you could use points that were banked from the 2007 use year, 2008 use year points and you may borrow points from the 2009 use year.

You may call to make a reservation at your home resort 11 months prior to your desired check out date - for January 2009, that will be sometime in February, 2008. Use year has nothing to do with when you can call for a reservation. That will always be 11 months prior to check out for a home resort and 7 months prior to check out for a non home resort.

A Jan/Feb 09 trip would fall in a Dec 08 UY. You could bank Dec 07 points and use Dec 08 points and borrow Dec 09 points for 300 points.

Good! That is what I wanted to hear. When I acll in 2008 to make the 2009 Jan reservation can I ask them to bank the 2007 points and borrow the 2009 points all at the same time? We are getting so excited about the thought of buying!!!

First of all, do you have a Dec UY contract of 100 points?

If not, you'll have to purchase a resale. That could take several months to complete the purchase. And it might be stripped. A lot of them are. Disney's minimum purchase is 160 points.

Unless you already own points. Then you can do an add-on through Disney for any number of points.

You must bank the points during the same UY no later than 6 months into the UY. For your Dec UY, you'd have to bank the points before May 1 to use them in the next UY.

If you plan on having a resale completed by Feb 08 to make your Jan 09 reservation, you probably should start looking soon to find a contract that meets your needs.
