I have a reservation for San Angel Inn for my upcoming trip, but I'm having second thoughts after having some mixed reviews on here. I need help finding a "backup." I was thinking a country just b/c I haven't been to one in a while, but I feel like my choices are limited. I'll take any suggestions!
Here are my current ADRs:

California Grill
The Wave
Shula's

THANKS!!!

If you like italian, I would try Tutto Italia. So good! There's always the Biergarten. Since they share tables, I feel like it's easier to get into at the last minute.

San Angel can be hit or miss. It is a wonderful atmosphere!

A good alternative the Garden Grill at the Land. And we love Rose and Crown for lunch. I agree with cnorth - Biergarten is usually available and is a good experience.

If you change your mind about a country you can always go with the Coral Reef.

We have eaten at Rose and Crown twice and loved it both times. If you can get a ressie outside and can time it right you can watch illuminations.Fantastic.

Do not worry about mixed reviews. I love that place. Our food was good, fyi, it is not tex mex but more traditional food. If you look at the menu and something appeals to you, go don't worry about what others think.
This little restaurant is a gem, most people forget about it or "go with the flow" of reviews and miss out on a good meal and a phenominal atmosphere that can't be topped.

You will find people who don't like all the restaurants on property, I say go and decide for yourself.

Nadjalu...you have a good point! I'm also not so sure of the other countries either lol...except of course Japan or China, but I have that all the time at home...and my boyfriend and I are kinda fussy with other foods...doubt he'd try Morocco..I haven't eaten in a country in years...my last trips just never included them. How is Japan or China? Maybe I'll try one of them for lunch one day...

Thanks for all your help everyone!

I agree...give San Angel Inn a go! We love it! We've been eating there for over 20 years now, almost every single time we go...(that's well over 30 times). We love, love, love the atmosphere, and the food has always been very good. Agree, it is more traditional Mexican, rather than the Tex-Mex we are used to here in the states, but as someone here said...go with the flow! Enjoy the boat ride while you wait, shop in the "market", keep a look out for Donald Duck, and enjoy your trip to Mexico! :donald:
