Hi all,

My nephew has not been to Disney since he was 8, but he is planning to propose to his girlfriend there in November. He came to me for advice as to where since he knows that I go a lot.

What I know about her: She loves animals (I'm thinking Animal Kingdom or Lodge)! She is going to vet school. She is very artistic (her facebook page has fantastic drawings of elephants on it). She is not very 'girlie' (so no princess stuff).

What I know about him: He is shy (so no big crowds). He is not a great planner, so he really needs help with this! lol He does not want to go to Magic Kingdom.

I googled some things and saw where a lot of people chose a spot along the paths to the tree of life. I also saw about the Disney safari experience. Anyone have any more info on that?

Open to ideas and suggestions!!

Thanks so much!

If he's not a planner, I say keep it simple. Maybe dinner at Jiko or one of the other restaurants at AKL and then a stroll around the resort. They can sit in some of the big rocking chairs or around one of the fires or near the animals and he can propose privately.

I would definitely tell him to do something at the lodge or at animal kingdom, maybe on the safari or at rafikis planet watch. If he doesn't plan much I would suggest going to kidani and sitting in the rocking chairs by the fire pit at night, love it there with the giraffes walking by.

If he wants to do something fabulous vs just an on the spot proposal, he should contact disney directly. I'm pretty sure special events could set something up like maybe he could do the wild africa trek and have them arrange something for just the two of them. If its just going to be an on the spot proposal fun places I can think of would be during any of the fireworks celebrations pref wishes or illumination, the jungle cruise could be a fun and memorable spot. If she's at all into the princess thing he could propose in Cinderella's castle. There really are tons of options it would be best for him to call Disney for some ideas. Since he hasn't been in so long it doesn't sound like he would know where to go if someone told him. Without some direction which could kill the spontaneous or fun vibe he would be going for.

my 2 cents...

The train to Planet watch , it passes by the overnight areas, or at the vet area in the planet watch. If she is crazy about animals I would look in to if they can get a behind the scenes tour of the vet area and pop the question on the tour.

Maybe he could get one of the engagement in room celebration packages and when they walk in their room, it wil be all set for him to propose. That is what I wanted DF to do, but he proposed at home with a cake instead. Good luck! Let us know what he does and how it went :)

The wild africa trek would be perfect for this!

My husband and I went on this in May and it was incredible. More than we would normally spend, but really worth it. I think there is a group limit of 12 people. You get to walk over the crocodiles and hippos, and meet with a few keepers, as well as two tour guides who are taking photos along the way. Later you get a "snack," but it's really like a meal, on a private overlook (I think that would be the perfect spot to propose). Also they send you a disc of photos from the trek, so that would be a great keepsake.

The guides we had were wonderful, some of the best CMs we have met. I think if he lets one know of his plans, they could arrange for a bit of privacy for him to ask during the snack break.

PM me if you want more info. I have lots of photos!
