I am planning a trip to DL in Nov 2024 with my two daughters and their children. I have been to DL several times over the years but this time one of my daughters is wanting to stay in a hotel that has either an indoor pool/hot tub or an outdoor heated pool. Since I have never required this before I have no idea where to look! We want the hotel to be within easy walking distance as well and possibly have breakfast provided. Can you tell me if most outdoor pools are heated so you could comfortably swim in November when it’s a bit cooler out? Any suggestions of places that are close to the parks? She has two little boys who are very active and she feels she wants to be able to leave with them mid day to give them a break and they love to swim!! All help is most appreciated!

I’m not sure if the pool was heated, but we stayed at the new Element Hotel by Westin last year that was about a 10-15 minute walk to DL. The room was large with bunk beds and a great hot breakfast bar.

Have you searched for a great rate at Paradise Pier ?
I noticed many posts about the Howard Johnson’s recently.
And I am really curious about the Great Wolf Lodge but it is not within walking distance and usually very expensive.
Going to check out the reviews for Anaheim Desert Inn ….

Thanks for those ideas. I had been looking at the Desert Inn because of its proximity to the park. The reviews are quite mixed though so made me a bit nervous. I might check out some of the other places mentioned. I did look at Great Wolf Lodge. It’s too far away but looks like a great place. I’m having a hard time finding out if outdoor pools are heated at that time of year. Should I just assume if there is an outdoor pool that it would be so?

There are no indoor pools that I know of that are walking distance. I know the Springhill Suites near the Santa Ana airport has an indoor pool, and most Embassy Suites have indoor pools. You’ll be hard pressed to find a major chain hotel that isn’t heated year-round. Heated pools are pretty common in Southern California. All the DLR onsite pools are heated. The Courtyard Theme Park (has a small water park), JW Marriott, Westin, Marriott Convention Center, Sheraton, Hilton Convention Center, and the Residence Inn (has a splash pad) and Springhill Suites by the convention center all have heated pools.

I would look into the hojo and grand legacy. If I remember correctly, they both have heated pools. Hojo has a fun splash area and grand legacy has a zero entry pool with a couple of splash areas too. My kids loved both when they were little.

I have a picture of my kids swimming in the pool at Tropicana in early March when it was 52 degrees, and there is steam rising from the water, so it was definitely heated. They don't serve breakfast, but it's a super close walk.

The HoJo would be a great option as it not only has a heated pool but also a fun water slide/park type thing. Small enough that you wouldn’t want to spend all day there, which is good for a mid day break. It does have a hot tub as well.

The Best Western Plus Park Place Inn is directly across the street from the entrance. They have an outdoor pool and the room includes breakfast. Not sure if the pool is heated but you might want to call them.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. I was looking at the HoJo as I have stayed there many many moons ago when my kids were young and it’s so close. I don’t think they offer breakfast though do they?

No breakfast which is why we don't stay there. I find a full breakfast (hot options) saves so much money and fills you up so you don't have to eat until much later in the parks.

Home2Suites offers a hot breakfast. They have a nice pool area and a kids splash pad area. Not sure if the pool is heated because we didn’t use it. I would assume it’s heated, but you can call and ask! Parking is valet only though. And not much longer of a walk than Hojo.

As noted above, Anaheim Desert Inn has an indoor pool. We stayed there in May 2022. It was fine - clean, no frills, and close. If you want a soft bed though, stay far, far away.
