....we are thinking of visiting Colorado this Fall and would be going to place in the Colorado Springs and Denver area (Academy, Focus on the Family, zoo, etc), any suggestions for a nice hotel with beautiful views and clean. This is just for DH and myself and would like a place under $100/night.
Thanks in advance!

A little help with WHERE in the Denver-Colorado Springs area you want to be would be helpful-in Denver? in Colorado Springs? north or south?

Both have all the usual chains-you could select one of those based on where you want to be-an views looking west in either Denver or CS are going to be nice-although Colorado Springs is physically closer to the mountains-and -having lived in both-i think its prettier. If you are going to stay in the Springs i would avoid the Antlers Hilton-its dates and not always up to Hilton Standards service wise. I like the Double Tree on East Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. There is also a LaQuinta in that area thats pretty nice-the address maybe on Geyser Drive. Those are both in the South Part of Colorado Springs. There is an Embassy Suites in the North part near the Academy thats nice-but may be out of your price range. Im sure you will get other feedback-we all have our opinions-just be aware that the Denver0Cololrado Springs area is pretty large and pretty varied.

Thanks for the info. We would like to stay in the Northern part, closer to the Academy simply because we plan on going to a game in Boulder as well as visiting the places around Colorado Springs. I have no sense of how far apart these places are and timewise for travel. Our main goal is to relax and enjoy the views and go to the game, then see the Academy, Focus on the Family and then whatever else may be nice.

Any suggestions on things to do, places to visit would be appreciated. I don't know if this helped you figure out what location would be best for us. You know it better than we do. :thumbsup2 I will be in a boot/cast so as far as things to do, something not too active would be best.

....anyone else have some hotel and things to do suggestions for our trip to CO this Fall?

Now I'm looking at Cherry Creek area as well for a hotel (along with Northern Colorado Springs area). Any suggestions for a nice hotel with nice views of the Rockies?

Our plans are to go to fball game on Saturday in Boulder, then have 2-3 days just to ourselves to see the sights and relax around the Denver and Colorado Springs area. I found the Crowne Plaza for a great rate, but it's in South Colorado Springs, is it a nice place? Since it's in the southern part of CS, how much longer does that make the trip to Denver and Boulder?

Thanks for the help.

colorado springs to denver with no traffice is an hour and fifteen minutes, with traffic (and there will be traffic) its closer to an hour and 45 minutes at times. to get to boulder from south denver add another 30 minutes on top of that.

Alot of hotels have a "view" of the mountains (even downtown denver hotels). It just dePends on how close you want to be. I presonally would rather stay in Downtown Denver/Chery Creek, more shopping and art/sightseeing places. Colorado Springs is nice and peaceful but to me nothing special. The cheyenne Mountain zoo is nice, but Denver Zoo much bigger and nicer, royal gorge, cave of the winds and garden of the gods nice, but not really near eachother and more of a once you are there ok I seen it. I stayed at garden of the gods for an hour and that was too much,it's like ok red rocks, yaaaaay, oh look more rocks that look like the other rocks. and im born and raised in Denver and love nature. lol We've stayed at the Antlers hilton just last year and actually thought it was a great place if staying in the springs. in town, has a nice pool and workout room, as well as microbrew resturant in it.

But if you stay in downtown you will be less drive to boulder, which going to a CU game traffic will be bad so add even more time for that as well as the piss poor parking situation in Boulder for football games. but doentown you have zoo and museum in the same (city) park, shopping galore, tons and tons of resturants, microbrews etc... In golden you can tour Coor brewery, in loveland you can tour budweiser, or go to ft collins and tour new belgium brewery (but this is 2 hours away from denver). Cherry creek is a nice area to shop and play. You can walk around and visit many art galleries and shops.

okay-from experience-my kids both went to school in boulder-for the day of the game stay near-but not in boulder-there is a cluster of hotels in Louisevilee-a hampton, quality inn, comfort suites and a La Quinta. Game day traffic in Boulder is HORRENDOUS and you are looking at probably 90 minutes just to get to that Louiseville location post game. North end of Colorado Springs is more than 100 miles from Boulder and should AFA have a home game the same day you are planning to go to Boulder you will have traffic nightmares. Another question not asked but assumed is that you are flying into Denver. with those things as a given-i would stay two nights in the Louiseville area-Game day and one other to see things in that area. That Crowne Plaza is nice-and you need to allow 2 and a half hours to boulder at least from there ( i live not far from there and commuted from north denver for several years so im familiar with the drive) Given the fact that you will need to return to the Denver airport i might be tempted to stay in the Denver Tech Center area-on the weekend thats about an hour from Colorado Springs and will give you some flexibility.
