I have a one week WDW visit planned for Nov. Two of my kids and I are major HP fans! We really just want to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and don't have to see the rest of the park.

Tix for 1 day at Univeral is around $87. Plus Transportation to get there, and even if we just purchase a few souvenirs that's over $350 just to see that part of the park for 3 ppl. Anyone know of any other discounts that time of year?? Or maybe if there's a half day option at the Studios? TIA!

One day at any park is going to be expensive. There really isn't any way around it. Dreams Unlimited offers a one day/two park ticket with transportation for $130 but with 3 people who only want to go to one park, that is more expensive than just buying the one day/one park ticket and taking a cab.

if you are staying on site at the motherland, you can buy tickets with transportation to the darkside.

there are no half day tickets at UO.

check out some of the stickies for more info on how others stategies were for doing the parry hotter section.

my one tip: go early..........

enjoy your day at universal!

I don't think you are going to be able to do it much cheaper but my advise is to get there as early as possible, go straight to Harry Potter, which you should be able to do in less than a couple of hours as it is quite small really. Then go and do the rest of IoA as it is a great park for all ages and loads to do. At least then you will get a lot more for your money. It would be a shame to spend so much, going to a great park and only seeing a very small part of it.

Last year we were facing the same situation.

We were staying at WDW, but wanted to spend one day at Universal, to see WWoHP.

After looking at the cost of transportation, to and from WDW to Universal, and one day park tickets, we gave up on the idea.

One problem is that the marginal costs of WDW Tickets, for the 6, 7, 8 days are only a couple of bucks a person. It is hard to give that up, and then spend a lot more to go somewhere else for a day.

Even though it was hard to put it off a year, we decided to go later this year, and stay On-Site at Universal. We are only going for a couple of days, but look forward to the Park Perks with staying On-Site.

I am looking at this too - we have 8 nights at WDW coming up, but DS is a huge Harry Potter fan, and after MUCH debate, we decided to just go ahead and do the one day at Universal/IoA to see the Harry Potter stuff. This is sort of our "dream trip" to WDW, and DS knows about the trip, and Jedi Training Academy, so the one day to see WWoHP is going to be the one thing he DOESN'T know about!

As much as I hate saying it, this is what we are going to do too. :sad1: Just can't justify the cost right now with us already shelling out $6000 for Disney.

Just thought that maybe just maybe there was an evening hours admission or something else.

Maybe next year we can do a much cheaper Universal vacation! :thumbsup2

For next year, just plan a bigger trip there.

"We really just want to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and don't have to see the rest of the park. "

The rest of the place is amazing. WWoHP is great, but small, and it would be hard to spend hours and hours and hours there IMO. And there's just so much else to see even just in IOA, even if you're not fans of the huge thrill rides. We spent 4 days (2 partial, 2 full) at Universal and still didn't feel like we were *done* with what we wanted to do. It was all so gorgeous and thoroughly themed and overwhelming and great... It does deserve more than just a "run back to HP and be done!" day.

It would be like if someone bought a one-day ticket for the family JUST to see some small part of a Land in one part of WDW. You'd think "oh but there's so much more to do and see!" :)
