I must be missing something.... in pricing rooms for 4 night stay, this just doesn't make sense to me.

Coronado Springs for the nights I need is showing $979
WL for the same nights is showing $1463 (standard room)
and BC for same nights is at $2250 (standard) - prices from disneyworld.com

So, now I see an ad for David's Vacation Club Rentals.... the prices I'm getting for those same nights at VWL and BCV are both $767 (for a studio - $13 a point, 59 pts)

What am I not seeing? I don't understand how this is so much cheaper, and less than a moderate (and apologize in advance if it's something very obvious!)
Thanks!

Check the DVC boards here - Rent/Trade board specifically - there is an entire sticky dedicated to renting points.

It is cheaper for one reason, due to the risk you assume. Renting points is a private transaction between 2 individuals which doesn't involve Disney at all. David's Vacation Rental acts as a broker between the parties, basically, so the risk is somewhat mitigated, but he also charges higher prices per point than most individual owners do.

Also - cancellation policies are stricter (there may be no refunds at all - not sure how David works his site, but many owners do that), you don't get mousekeeping every day, you most likely will have a queen bed and a sofa bed vs. 2 queens, etc. There are advantages as well, but I would review the sticky.

Any questions on this should be located on the DIS DVC boards.. either Planning or Mousecellaneous.

I'm gonna move this over there and they can help you.

One can save a lot.
As PP mentioned, there is risk involved with private point rental, but you will probably pay less per point.
There are stickies with good advice about checking references, getting contracts, etc.

If one plans ahead, if one chooses resort and timing carefully :surfweb:, if one finds a reliable points owner to rent from, then one can save a lot. :thumbsup2

There are different points for weekend nights vs. Sun - Thurs.
The least expensive place to stay for us is AKV in Oct Sun - Thurs.
9 points a night for a value studio.
5 nights is 45 points- to stay deluxe.
How much will that cost?
Depends on how much you pay per point.

Also, not everyone gets pin numbers :confused3 to compare packages with.
You have to do what works for you- what makes you happy.:goodvibes

Well... saving money makes me happy!!!

Thanks for the responses, I'll read more about this, and I'm sure I'll have more questions.

Thanks!
