Need help transferring pattern

Hi! I am in the process of making handpainted Little Mermaid shortalls for DD. I have patterns but I can't get them onto the denim overalls so that I can see them. I used a sulky transfer pen for dark fabrics but it's not working. Any tips on working with the sulky pen(I lost the directions). Or do you have any other ideas for getting a pattern onto dark fabric? I'm lost as to what to do next. I definitely couldn't draw them freehand!!I'm sure it wouldn't look like the "little mermaid"!!

Hmm... I think I would use one of those white, washable fabric pens. They are made specifically for transferring patterns onto dark fabric. I got mine at JoAnn's. They will wipe right off when you need them to.

Thanks I will try to find one. I'll have to wait 'til I go out of town. I live in a very small town. All we have is a Dollar General, Fred's, and Wal-Mart. Our WM has cut out most of their craft department. The closest craft/fabric store is 50+ miles away!! Thanks for the tip!!!
