Hello,

A newbie here needs some Disney veterans help

I'm getting married in October in Cocoa beach.

My family is going to Disney World on Oct 6 & 7. My grandma won't be arriving till Oct 7th Saturday Evening. She doesn't get around really well but would like to do something fun.

I'm looking for suggestions on something to do with her that night. I tried getting one of those wishes cruises but they were all booked up. I've been searching the boards but I'm stumped.

Thanks in advance for any help

Stacy

I suggest Cirque du soleil. It is a terrific show and people of all ages love it. It would be something fun and different.

Enjoy your time with your grandma.

What about dinner at the Grand Floridian? If she likes the victorian era (mine sure did) she would probably really like that.

Maybe a nice family meal at O'Hana's and then go down to the beach to watch the fireworks....almost as good as a cruise!!

And if you had time to kill a monorail ride over to the GF to listen to the Swing Band before dinner might be nice.

My Mom is 77 and on her last trip in 2003 the thing she loved the most was Spectromagic in the MK. She still talks about the "lightbulb parade" and how much she loved it. A close second for her was the Hoop Dee Doo dinner at FW.

And Welcome :earsgirl: I noticed it was your first post.

Maybe you can get ressies for California Grill to coincide with the fireworks at MK. It should make for a very special meal.

Another option depends on how late in the evening she is getting in and if you are willing to spend money on park admission for a few hours. My great-aunt is 71 and has trouble walking/standing due to knee problems, but she LOVES going to EPCOT for a couple of hours and looking around WS. She really enjoys the atmosphere, meeting people from different countries, looking at the shops and the different food choices. Plus you can get a ressie at Rose & Crown and see Illuminations while you eat dinner.

Whatever you choose, have lots of fun. Grandmas are the best! :)

Take her on the Carousel of Progress. Then she can tell you what she remembers that she had in her home when she was younger.

I'm going to research several options provided here and talk the over with the family. Thanks a bunch I knew I could count on disers to give great ideas!
