Hi,
A friend is planning their first trip to WDW in November. She has a 9 year old daughter and 11 year old son. The daughter will be excited about the trip. The son has always said he is not interested in ever going (I think he thinks Mickey is for little kids). He likes Star Wars and Indiana Jones type of movies, games, etc...and Disney movies (Toy Story, Frozen). So we are thinking he will love it once he goes. How do you tell the kids about the trip when you know one will be excited and the other one will not? Any suggestions appreciated.

Also, they are going to LEGOLAND which the son will be very excited about, but that's only for one day. They are planning an 11 day trip.
Thanks!
K

Maybe she could tell the kids their going to Disney World and Lego Land so that they're both excited? Or maybe she can find a way to tell him about the Star Wars ride in Disney or show him some other attractions there (like Toy Story Mania) that he may like before she tells him that he is going.

Head over to the Creative board and see if someone can make some coupons for Star Wars themed stuff. Like one for him to make his own light saber or get a special item. Then maybe she can present those as part of the surprise and he will realize there is more to it than Mickey.

I wouldn't recommend trying to make it a huge "surprise! we're going to disney!" thing! Just tell them they are going and then let them help plan the details of the trip. Maybe he'll love the idea of eating at T-Rex, or riding Everest, or other things he doesn't even know exist!
