I just got a new HP laptop. I put itunes on it but my itouch doesn't sync. And I don't know how to get what is on my itouch and put it on my new laptop. I'm worried Apple won't let me because it thinks I'm trying to give my stuff away. How do I let it know this my new computer? How do I get the podcast to download on that one? Do I need to subscribe again? If anyone can help me with this it would be wonderful. I have trouble understanding itunes anyway. It just doesn't work the way I think is logical. Thanks! :)

How are you getting your files from your old computer to the new one?

I have never had much luck transferring files from an iphone to the computer unless they are Apple purchases.

You can deactivate your old computer in iTunes. If you use the same login for iTunes on your new computer, Apple won't care.

Regardless, you probably will need to re-subscribe to the Podcast.

Thanks. I don't have many files from the old one because that one was DH's. I only used it for itunes. But I'm putting on files from our main desktop pc to my laptop with a flash drive.

I got itunes to authorize the new computer. I resubscribed on the new computer. It downloaded one podcast. However, my ipod is greyed out and I can't click it. I can only look at what is on it. So I can't check the podcast to sync it with my itouch without it saying I will loose everything on the itouch to match what is on the computer. Why can't they make itunes user friendly? :sad2:

The way I have always changed computers (that I use to sync my iPhone) is to make sure the new computer has all the songs on it and then sync the iphone/ipod to it. It is a pain but I've not found a way to do it otherwise. It does erase the files on the ipod/iphone but you can then replace it pretty easily, as long as you have them. I don't do a lot of iTunes purchases, but you should be able to re download the files without additional cost. Your iTunes account should show you what you have previously downloaded.

Ok, thank you. That confirmed what I was thinking. My music is mostly from cds so I guess I'll just have to put those on the new pc. My main concern is getting the podcasts set up. I guess I mostly have to start from scratch. :sad2: What a pain. Thanks for your help. :)
