Need help regarding MCO Hyatt

We are flying in on March 28 at 11PM so would just like to stay at the Hyatt in the airport and then take ME in the morning for this trip.
I'm looking on Hotwire and see a 4STAR at MCO for $61.
From my research this could be either the Hyatt or the Renasissance.
I'm trying to figure it out because if it is not the Hyatt then we will just stay at a 3 star place. We are looking for convenience of avoiding the hotel shuttle in the AM.

Anyone have any ideas how certain I can be if this is the Hyatt?
Thank you!

Cant answer the Hotwire question, but I will say that we tried the Hyatt last time and it was awesome -- so amazingly quiet & convenient!:thumbsup2

When I bid on Hotwire and got the Rennaisance, it was a 3.5* (and not deserving in Aug 2007). I let Hotwire know the problems we had and they told me they were considering lowering the Rennaisance to a 3*. So I'd be really suprised if it was now a 4* ?

I am doing the same thing arriving at the airport around midnight and did hotwire. I ended up with the Renasissance (yes it said 4*). My date is 4/2...so, it may be the same hotel for your dates. BTW - I got it for $50...It's only to sleep so, I'm not complaining!!!

So I'd be really suprised if it was now a 4* ?
From time to time, the star ratings at hotwire (and priceline) are juggled to preserve opacity, and guarantee at least two properties in the same category. They aren't always deserved.l

They are the same star rating. The Ren has recently been renovated and one of my coworkers said it was a VERY nice hotel now.

The secret is the TripAdvisor rating. Hyatt as a 4.5 on that....If that's not being shown then all bets are off!

Priceline gave me the MCO Hyatt for $35 per night. I was willing to take my chances at that price. Hotels that appeal almost exclusively to the air traveler usually do a great job with the shuttles.

Wow.....is all I can say about the Rennaisance getting a 4* :sad2:

Unless they underwent some awesome, over-the-top remodel, I just don't see it. I didn't think they deserved 3.5. I posted a review from my Aug 2007 stay.

I presented the photos and list of complaints I had to Hotwire, and they agreed with me after a week of mulling it over. They got back to me and refunded me $45 of my $65 bid. The refund was in Hotwire dollars, but that was fine with me.

I know they were doing some remodeling in the lobby when we were there....but that couldn't possibly make up for the condition of the room and hallways. The hallways smelled like mold and garbage and they said it was an AC condenser problem ?

Oh well...........thanks Carol and Brian for the update on the Ren. I'd love to see updated pics.

thanks for all the input, we are considering doing priceline or hotwire, for an airport hotel the night of 3/28, and taking what we can get at a 3 or 3.5 level. Two concerns:
1. our flight does not arrive till 11:30 pm ish and it looks like some hotels do not have 24 hr shuttles -is there a way to make sure?
2. we'd really like a continental breakfast -any way to make sure that is one of the amenities?

Thanks, I realize this is for only one night but it is the start of a much needed trip after a busy winter so would like to start out right.

It's been a while since I've used priceline, but if I recall correctly, you cannot assume any amenities beyond a room in which two people can sleep.

Hotwire may or may not list shuttle/breakfast as amenities. But, in general, if you want to guarantee specific things, you probably can't book with an opaque booking engine.
