Need Help QUICK please!

We are in Orlando now. My DH and Mom have decided that we are going to Universal tomorrow. I have spent the last year planning our WDW trip and had touring plans and all of our dining planned (very well thank you!). I had planned tomorrow as a day to do whatever we hadn't gotten to, but they want to try Universal. I don't know anything! They didn't even know it was 2 parks, so I guess I'm one up on them!
Anyway, we're staying off-site in Kissimmee and can be there before opening.
What do you all recommend? What time should we get there?
It is me (33 and not into intense coasters, I like BTMR if that tells you a lot!), DH is a gamer and loves the big rides. My mom doesn't like intense rides, won't even ride BTMR. We have 2 DDs, 5 years and 45 inches and 1 year old.
We LOVE the Simpsons so want to go on that, but don't know anything else about the others!
Any suggestions out there for what to do and how?

I'll offer suggestions based on this:
Mummy should be fine for all of you to ride...except your mom and the one year old. I'm not sure what the height requirement is. May want to check on that when you get to the park.

Men In Black will be good for all of you, should be extra fun for your DH.

Simpsons will be fine for all of you, as will Jaws.

With the girls, be sure to do the Jimmy Neutron and Shrek attractions in addition to the animal actors show.

Disaster is loud but is more of a show than anything. The most movement you do is a slow drive and some moderate to above moderate bouncing and shifting of the subway cabin. Be advised it could scare small children. Use your best judgment.

That should take care of the Studios.

Heading to Islands:

The girls should enjoy the Seuss island. Lots of fun stuff for them to do there.

There are three coasters in this park...and they are big. Dueling Dragons (2) and Hulk (1). Ride if you are a thrill seeker...if not don't bother.

Spiderman should be ok for everyone, ride Simpsons first, use your judgment based on that to figure if it will be ok for everyone to ride. They are somewhat similar in attraction type.

Jurrassic Park River Adventure is alot of fun, but periods of darkness and loud noises capped off with a fairly big drop could spook the little ones. Again, use your best judgment.

There are more rides there but these come to mind. Be sure to get a map from each park when you first go in and study the height requirements BEFORE getting in line. No need to be embarrassed by waiting in a long line if it's not necessary. Be sure to use your best judgment about what each of you can handle...and also what you know about your kids.

I know that some 5 year olds can handle certain things that other 5 year olds can't handle. You know your kids best.

My dh & my dds rode the Mummy, and the girls (19 & 12) thought it was intense. Dh & ds (7) rode The Simpsons and thought it was very rough; neither of them enjoyed it at all, and my dh is a thrill ride lover.

RoTM is fun because of the launch and the speed. I agree with The Simpsons being a little rough but it's not a bad as BTTF was for me.
