We are traveling to WDW for a week in October with friends. They have a five year old and an 18 mo old. What are the options for stroller rental? Do you recommend rental and what is the cost? I have heard stories about people's strollers being "stolen" so would you rent or bring your own. Also are there any outside companies to rent from in order to have the stroller for trips to DTD and such? They have never been to WDW and I am trying to help make it the best trip ever for them. ( I haven't needed a stroller for my kids in over 15 years) Thanks!!

There are several outside companies that are well-liked and most of them are pretty cost comparable. We use Kingdom Strollers. They have several different types of strollers available (including double). A rain cover and soft sided cooler are included for free and you also receive a coupon for free grocery delivery. They will drop off and pick up at your resort and if you purchase the optional insurance, you don't have to worry about damage or theft. Theft is highly unlikely at Disney, but I always purchase the insurance for peace of mind.

For us, renting a city mini double for 7 days with insurance and tax was around $95 I believe. I briefly considered buying a cheap double stroller but the hassle of traveling with it and the lack of extra features made me realize the rental is well worth the cost.

We also use kingdom stroller, and they have been great. Theft is very unlikely and we have never bothered with the insurance, pushing our cost down to around $70 for a week (for a double). We usually take a colorful scarf to tie around the handle so that when we walk up to a sea of identical strollers in stroller parking we can quickly identify ours. We definitely prefer outside companies because strollers are just as useful when in DTD, while walking to and waiting for buses, and around the resort in general. Plus the strollers offered by Disney in the park are not nearly as nice as those provided by outside companies.

I agree that renting a double stroller from Kingdom Strollers is the way to go!

I have used kingdom strollers, Orlando stroller rental, and magic strollers for renting city mini gt doubles, and all have been great. There are very few differences. Off the top of my head, kingdom will also deliver water for $9 a case, OSR gives you a little cooler bag and kingdom lets you borrow it (none from magic), for our LOS magic is a little more $$, but they have availability more often and there is a coupon in the birmbaum guide. They had subtle differences in The types of rain covers and parent consoles each uses, I was a little over concerned about those and asked! If you care send me a PM and I'll tell you the differences- probably overkill for most people! They all deliver and pickup to the resorts bell services, and were waiting for us when we got there. Magic sent me a text when the stroller arrived at our resort in the am when we were still in our kitchen at home getting ready to leave for the airport! I like the city mini gt double over the city mini double, particularly if one kid is somewhat bigger but honestly I prefer it even for 2 smaller kids. I think it pushes easier and I prefer the hand lock, I'm sure some disagree.

We get the City Mini GT from Orlando Stroller Rental. It's a little inconvenient on the buses, but well worth it! We first got it when my kids were 2 & 4 and will be getting it again next month- they'll be 4 & 7.
