We are still having such a hard time deciding on which resort to stay at. We have stayed at the YC and love it!!!!! But we now have a baby and really think the Monorail resorts would be easier. BUT we hear so many different things about the Poly. Everytime I think we have decided on the Poly I hear bad reviews and I get worried.
We love the light and airy feel of the YC so right off it has been hard for me to really warm up to the Poly. BUT... there are a lot of advantages to staying there so I had talked myself into it.

Our plan is to stay 5 nights. We were thinking of going to MK every morning and then back to the resort to relax and in the late afternoon heading over to Epcot one night and then MGM the other night. The last night we will probably go back to MK.
Our little one will be almost two when we go . We will be doing a couple Character meals also.
Any thoughts????? Anyone out there love the YC and then love the Poly just as much????
Thanks all

Hi there! I had the exact same question a little while ago and I got some very helpful replies.
I've stayed at the Poly and loved it. It is so convenient being on the monorail to get not only to the MK and Epcot but also to the GF and CR, which makes getting to the character meals at Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fare easy and hassle free. I also love the whole kitschy-tacky Hawaiian theme....
I haven't stayed at the YC yet but it looks great. Good luck deciding!

If you are planning on going to the MK every morning, I would definetely stay at the Poly ~ you would be at the MK in under 10 minutes. You can take the stroller on the monorail without having to fold it up (like you have to do on the buses).

This choice is based solely on logistics.

I am sure you would love both resorts.

We've stayed at both resorts. I will admit we do love the Epcot resort area the best (BC/YC/BWI), but we also now have young children and since MK is their favorite park, yes it is easier/more convenient to stay at a monorail resort. To put your mind at ease, we do enjoy Poly a lot. Being that you love YC, I can't see a reason why you wouldn't love Poly as well. Poly has larger and newly renovated rooms, great restaurants, great pool, nice grounds and theme, and of course the monorail. Something that I thought was fascinating the first time we stayed at Poly was seeing the Castle from the pool/beach area -- it seemed so close -- and then watching Wishes from the beach was incredible. I don't think you'll regret your decision to try Poly.

Would people say that their building location was a factor in how they felt about the resort?

We have stayed at both resorts. The transportation to MK from the Poly is hard to beat either by boat or monorail. We have stayed in 2 different buildings and enjoyed them both. I felt that our room in the YC was more of a hike to the lobby than our "far away" building at the Poly.

My favorite part about the monorail resorts is hearing that wonderful train whistle off in the distance.....ahhhh.....it's the best sound in the 'world'.

Go with Poly this time.

Possible, but not probable in my opinion. We've stayed in 2 different buidings and loved both of them. If you'd like to be close to the main building, you can request that and there are several buildings to choose from that are close by. Even if you are in a building close to the TTC, you can take those monorails and be at both MK and Epcot in a flash.

We just got back from YC......with our DD14 mths....we also stopped and visited the Poly for photos with her there(got married there)...I know the monorail is great...however....the kiddie pool area at SAB is near the YC....she loved it...not too crowded over here..perfect for toddlers. The pool at the POLY was soo busy...it is zero depth...no kiddie pool...just a spray fountain area that kids loved....but DH said that we were glad we stayed at the YC...we walked to EPCOT...boat to MGM...and the bus to MK was fine.
We visited MK twice. Good luck deciding!

So you thought it was just as convenient (or pretty much) to stay at the YC?

We never had any travel issues to MK...bus ame quickly...easy on and off with a stroller.....to have SAB with that kiddie swim area was worth more to us with our DD4 mths than having the monorail....some may feel different.
We havent uploaded our pics yet, but if you pm me, I would be more than happy to email you some photos of Ava in the pool area...may help out a bit to see them:) OOPS...DD is 14 mths!!!! Very mobile and running around...lol

I'm not DisneyBride'03, but I have a lot of experience staying in both the monorail resorts and the Epcot resorts with young children. My situation is a bit different because we have twins and a double stroller. We didn't find buses very enjoyable when our twins were babies (DH unloaded and folded the double stroller while I held both babies.....it was not very relaxing.....). Taking a bus compared to taking the monorail with a double stroller really is no comparison for us and our particular situation.

However, I can say that we LOVE the Epcot resorts, especially BC and yes because of the sandy-bottom pool and being able to walk to both Epcot and MGM. Our problem is that our twins are now 4 yrs old and we're pulled in 2 different directions because MK is their favorite park, but yet BC is their favorite resort. We still take our double stroller to WDW. So.....we're trying to rotate our trips, one trip at monorail resort, next trip at Epcot resort, next trip monorail resort, etc.

So as far as your question on if YC is as convenient as Poly, if you're referring to MK park, then my opinion is "no" because it's hard to beat getting to MK via the monorail. You can just push your stroller right on the monorail instead of unloading and folding it for the bus. However, if your question is which resort is more fun for kids, I'd have to say YC/BC in a heartbeat! Just my opinion -- I know lots of people feel differently. Good luck!

We have not stayed at the YC (yet !), but we have just returned from a stay at the Poly, and I will offer this. The pool at the Poly is way too small for the size of the resort (IMHO). It was packed all day and nite. It is a zero entry pool, and has no deep end. I believe the depth is a constant 4.5 feet, once you leave the zero entry part. Our 2 kids (DS 15, DD 10) used the pool only for the slide once or twice, and then went to the "quiet " pool. I use quotation marks because many people that were there (mostly the English, I'm afraid to say), did not know the meaning of quiet. And please, no flames. I have nothing against them, it just seems that while we were there, most of them could not read "English" ! Things like "no diving, no running, (they should have added no screaming !), etc. were constantly ignored. And not just by the children ! Wow, this seems to have turned into a bash the English thread ! So sorry, not my intent. There were just quite a few cheeky English people there ! I only mention it because my DD was almost dived on twice ! Back to the Poly. We love the Poly. It reminds us a little of our honeymoon in Hawaii, and the convience of the monorail. But.. next trip we will probably try another resort, mainly because of the pool situation. Good luck !! :thumbsup2
