Need help planning port excursions in Alaska!

Hello,

So excited just done with airfares and Hotel reservations for our June Alaskan sailing and now ready for the excursions!

We will love to do the Dog Sledding/helicopter excursion and yes they are very $$$ with DCL. Any suggestions with outside vendors? Are they safe? Are their rates a lot less. Will love to have recommendations. My DH is a big boy and I just read with DCL if you are over 250lbs(incl clothes and cameras) there is a 1/2 seat surcharge...LOL. Is anyone familiar with this surcharge...is it half of the rate more?

If done with outside vendors can we wait to do it at port?

We have done whale watching here in the US so will like to do something different. Will also love to see bears fishing and the glaciers.

Look at Coastal Copters we booked through them, they get great reviews and much less expensive my DH is 300 lbs and booking with Disney was a lot more money. Unfortunately it was rainy and foggy when we got to Juneau and we ended up getting cancelled. The next day we had nothing planned in Ketchikan so we made up for the lack of helicopter ride with a float plane ride that we booked last minute through Disney. BEAUTIFUL ride

Alaska is part of the United States, ICYDK. We did a float plane trip in Ketchikan through an outside vendor. It was a lot of fun.

We used them. Excellent communication. Very safety club sips. fog came in while we were on glacier and they flew in an expert pilot to come get us for safety. We had to wait an extra 2 hours but we were happy they took the precaution and waited until the fog lifted.
