It's kind of amazing how there are so many options available in the area. Personally I prefer going the airbnb/vrbo route - I don't mind timeshares or resorts by any means but there's something about a place being slightly "personalized" that I enjoy.
If having reliable internet is a high priority for you then you may want to consider going with this. Internet at the timeshares and resorts should not fail but at the same time you are sharing with hundreds of other devices, whereas with a rental property they will (or at least SHOULD) have a dedicated setup for that condo/apartment/house.
Car rentals, I usually book something off of Costco first (they don't require a CC at time of booking) and then I hit Expedia and Costco (almost) daily to see if I can get a better deal. Now, if you were to do a hotel+car package it would probably save you some money but I don't know that you could get a place as spacious as a time share/vacation rental/resort.
