My son wants to come to Disney next year and bring a few of his friends along. They are 18+ and at least one of them is adult enough to be on their own. We have neither enough points or interest in having them in a 2BR with us.... And I am NOT going to pay rack rates or even DVC rates for them to be in a deluxe hotel - they just do not need it, and are not going to care (they are there for the parks and the parks only).

Looking for 2 properties One a DVC where DW and I can stay. The other a value or moderate (willing to go up to a low moderate) for a cash room. Both need to be within easy access of each other so the kids can very easily come see us. Preferably all on Disney transportation or a short walk without having to trade busses at the park or DS.

Last requirements - someplace I will be likely to be able to book a studio or 1BR (preferably 1BR) at 7 months out since I doubt either will be BLT or AKV (my homes).

Thoughts?

Well, Riviera and CBR are the only DVC/moderate that are as close as you want and are walkable. Pop/AoA can access RIV via the Skyliner. Those are the only non-deluxe resorts that would be directly accessible to a DVC resort without a transfer at a park or DS.

That was my first thought.... But my concern there is what are my chances of getting a room at RIV?

What about SSR? If I got a preferred room, they would then have to just cross DS. That's doable? Or am I underestimating DS?. That would in theory open up CBR, POP and AoA?

In today’s environment of unusual booking patterns, as well as of RIV not being completely declared yet (thus not completely available for points bookings), it’s hard to predict your chances of booking there, but wanting a 1 BR does improve your chances. SSR would be reasonable in the sense that they could bus to DS and walk to SSR. Staying at SSR would open up all the values and mods, since all of them would have buses to DS.

Based on what I have seen for RIV, 1BR is easiest then preferred studio would be next and then the standard would be hardest, but depends on the time you go.

I'd say CBR/RIV as well, but if you were to run into issues with RIV, SSR/POR-POFQ or OKW/POR-POFQ all meet up (via boat) in DS. Not the same boat routes but especially for SSR Preferred Congress Park, POR could boat to DS and walk to SSR.

Wouldn't it just be easier to rent points and book them a studio wherever you are staying? (Not sure how many "a few" is as to whether a studio would work though.)
