need help picking a vocal song for dd 8 compititions

Its time to pick 3 songs for next years compitions. My DD is 8 and has awesome range for her age. She has beaten 18 year olds this year and youngest vocal winner in all comps she went to this season. This year she sang ALL THAT JAZZ and was loved or torn apart for her selection because some said it was to old for her. I would perfer broadway selections but not the everybody knows songs. I don't want Annie, Wizard of Oz, or Les Mes. it doesn't have to be a song a child sings. It can be an adults song. Current top 40 does not work well either. One song I have so far is Remeber Me This Way from casper.

What about something from "wicked" -- "defying gravity" or "because I knew you" are both wonderful.

DS12 is a singer and just starred in his school's production of Seussical. "Alone in the Universe" and "Anything's Possible" are both great for showing off range and phrasing.

if she has a good lower voice but can hit those high notes one of the best songs i can think of is "the swamps of home" from once upon a mattress. it shows off the lower range realy well but has at least one higher note that if done well just blows people away. i like the arrangement on the broadway cast album with sara jessica parker (no content that makes it age inappropriate)

a couple of show's that have great first soprano songs (but are generaly overlooked) are brigadoon and finian's rainbow. both have beautiful songs that are not overly adult in content.

a last suggestion would be to check out "soon as i get home" (? i think that's close to the title) from the wiz. stephanie mills sang it on the original broadway cast album and it's sort of the "over the rainbow" of the show (very sweet and a great song to "belt" on).
