We are going to disney in September. We are planning on eatting at the following:

The day we arrive: Dinner @ Chef Mickeys

2nd Day:(going to MK) Breakfast @ Crystal Palace
Lunch @ Cosmic Rays
Dinner @ Whispering Canyon

3rd. Day: (going to HWS) Breakfast @ Hollywood Vine
Lunch @ SCI FI Diner
Dinner @ Prime 50

Last day: Breakfast @ Chef Mickeys before we have to leave to catch our
flight home.

My question is should we get the Deluxe Dining Plan or should we just pay for our food as we go or get the regular dining plan?

We are staying at the Contempory. It will be myself, DH, DD10, DD5.

Delux or do you mean regular DDP
See you have a few Buffets here and even Sci Fi which are less expensive. But you also have a few TS per day. It may be less expensive to just do DDP and 1 OOP. Did you check the menue prices at All ears? I'll attach so you can compare doing the DDP at $38 a day I think the Delux DDP is about 64 dollars a day and that would be best if you had alot of signiature meals 2TS each or 2 TS meals a day.

Also keep an eye on these boards if you are going in Sept free dining may be offered again as has been offered the last 3 years.

Did some quick math on your restaurant choices if this is how you want to plan meals I'd go for the Deluxe plan. My calcs should a difference of less than $100 if you had basic plan and paid OOP for those extra meals.

Adding the Deluxe plan would even allow you to bump up to one or two 2TS meals. (CRT vs CP or Hoop Dee Doo vs WCC or any other combination you choose.)

I'm actually trying to decide if we should do the same for our Sept trip.

Totally missed the first line that says you are going in sept... duh... it must be bed time for me! LOL good advice from beoh2253!!!

LOL, I was just off to bed myself and when I read my post back
wasn't sure it made much sence, We are also going Sept on the bounce back free DDP so the important to make the ADR's more them anything the restaurants get full. So they should keep an eye open for the free offer again and if they want I think it is 30 some dollars to upgrade that to delux.

Well, you might be there during "free" dining so that may make your decision for you unless you already got a great deal on your room rate.

Your cost OOP for the DxDDP would be about $700. You are one credit shy of using all of your allottments on that plan. You could change one of your meals to a 2 credit meal (instead of WCC, do a dinner show. Instead of one of your other character breakfasts do CRT, eat at California grill your first night.) Your current plans would cost you- oop $358 at least for your fixed price meals (Chef Mickeys x2, H&V, CP.) Plus you still have your other meals. WCC can run a family of 4 about $100 if you eat a full meal (entree, drinks, maybe desserts.) Cosmic Rays will cost $40 minimum if you don't share anything. The other 2 meals you have planned might cost you $40 if you eat lightly (just snack ...appetizer, soft drink or dessert/coffee) OR they may run you over $100 each if you guys order full meals. Plus you have the option of snacks, the mugs (good souvenier), etc.

If you decide to do the dxddp, keep your eyes open for free dining codes- see if you can add it to your reservation. Then dxddp would only "cost" you $32/adult to add per night. You may also consider tweaking your reservations a little to add in a 2 TS credit place (maybe the brown derby for dinner on your Disney hollywood studios day?) Drop H&V breakfast unless your little one is over the moon for those characters.

Thats alot of planned meals and SEP is HOT, HOT, HOT! Dont overestimate everyones appetite pre-paying for meals you may not want. Definitely hang in their for any possible dining promo!

i ditto angelmav... that's a LOT of dining! and time spent dining! realize that parts of sept the parks close early... you may spend 50% of your DHStudios day getting to meals, eating, waiting to eat or being too full to move!! even if you got the earliest breakfast, a mid-day lunch and the latest dinner, you will still have given up at least 5 hours of park time on "meals" (and if i remember correctly, park hours for sept were approx 9am-7:30 or 8pm most days w/fantasmic at 7:30 or 8pm)!
