Our family was supposed to go to drive to HHI this Saturday for a week. We spontaneously decided to switch our trip and go to Disney instead!!! I've been so lucky to score all the ADRs I wanted and are using our Disney Vacation Club points at the BCVs.

I couldn't be more excited, except we usually fly! I am hoping someone can tell me the best route from South Jersey (Cherry Hill area). Any suggestions on clean, safe places to stop along the way would also be greatly appreciated.

We are planning on splitting the trip over two days and will be traveling with a two and a six year old!! Wish us luck...lol!

Thanks for any advice you can give!

We have driven twice from Philadelphia.

Once we did straight through, too rough on the body and the brain.

The Second time we drove as far as Fayetteville, NC (approx 8 hrs)
stayed right off I-95, I believe it was called the Clarion. It is a military town so lots of hotel/motels in the area.

Some peope on this board have driven as far as the GA/FL border (approx 12 hrs)
so hopefully someone will give you a hotel recommendation.

The drive is anywhere from 16-20 hrs depending on traffic and how fast you drive and how many breaks you take.

i posted this before but heres to driving. we leave hamilton twp, mercer at three am and drive to savannah ga i beleive exit 92 or 94 and stay at laquinta. it is the savannah 95 exit. we are there around 4 oclockpm. outlets to shop, and ruby tuesday to eat. off to bed and in disney by two and that is with leisurly stops. pm me if you have any questions

Hi Chuck.

Thanks for your reply!

We are hoping to get at least 10 hours in the first day, but it will depend on how well the little guys hold up!

Straight through would definately not work with them (or us)!

Thanks again!

We are going to drive straight thru at in October. We are going to rush down on the high that were going to Disney, but then we will take our time coming back.

I am trying to find out what rest stops have play areas or MacDonalds with Play Places. I want to give my three boys some good running time at rest stops.

We drive from Cherry Hill. We usually leave about 7:00 AM and stop the first night at the Hampton Inn in Santee, SC. It's about an 11 or 12 hour drive with stops and only going 5 miles over the poste speed limit.

The second day we leave early, it is about a 7 hour drive and get to WDW mid afternoon.

On the return trip we stop in Lumberton, NC which is about half way.

I drive from north Jersey and have about an extra 2 hours on you. We usually leave around 5am , maybe 6am and make stops every 3 hours. First stop a quick tea break and a walk. 3 hours later lunch with a playground, 3 hours a quick walk, 3 hours a sit down dinner, then drive 3-4 hours before stopping. We always try to stay somewhere with suites in the title. Last trip we needed to get down in one day and we did by leaving at 5am and getting there a little after midnight. I would do it again because I always get excited going but I hate going home.

I can't thank you all enough for your replies!

I am actually starting to get excited for our "adventure."

How was the drive? We leave on Saturday.

Us too.

JimFitz: We're leaving Saturday around 9pm from south Jersey. Maybe we'll pass you on the way. (We're going straight too, check-in at 4pm on Sunday)

The ride was great!

Our kids behaved better than they do going to the grocery store...lol! They were so good, my husband is ready to roadtrip it everywhere!

We drove about 12 hours (with stops) the first day. Then about 5 hours more the second day. It really only took about 17 hours with stops, so we made great time!

Have a great trip!

10 hours from Cherry Hill should put you in Santee, SC! A good place to stop! Plenty of food places and hotels. We stayed at the Holiday Inn! It was very clean and fairly inexpensive!

All these Cherry Hill Dis'ers who knew?

Anyway, I've done the drive many times from S. NJ to WDW. I leave my house at 2 am ish, get on 295 (no wait then) and go on down through I 95.

We got to Savannah GA (our stopping point) about 12 hours later with stops. From Savannah it was about 4 more hours.

We have also driven from the Wayne PA King of Prussia area and it wasn't bad then either.
