My wife and are are going to WDW for 10 nights in Dec.
I just read about the deluxe dining plan which is an add on for a DVC member.
I would get 60 meals and 20 snacks for the 10 nights at a cost of $1440.00 if I get this right. My planned meals are as follow:
sun. mama melrose's
mon gf cafe and citrico's
tue gf cafe and cal grill
wed gf cafe and tutto italia(candlelight pkg)
thur boma and yachtsman
fri cape may cafe b & d
sat kouzzina and brown derby(fantasmic pkg)
sun crystal palace and liberty tree
mon gf cafe and jiko
tue mickey's and cal grill

Now I figure this adds up to 52 meals and I still get 20 snacks.
I figure I will save money in the long run with this plan but because we haven't had it before I just am not sure and would like some guidence.
Thank you all for any and all responses.

Looking at where your eating I think you would save money. The deluxe plan includes an appetizer, entree, and dessert. It's a lot of food, but eating at the deluxe restaurants makes it a reasonable about for a day.

And you can use the extra 8 meal credits for CS meals. You don't have to use them all for TS, though that is the way to get the best value out of the plan.

Would you be spending around $70 OOP each day?

Have you looked at all the menus to see if the DDP will suit you? We tried the regular DDP this past February and I found that I'm more of a appetizer, soup and/or salad person (2-4 trips a year and I never knew). I was okay at the buffets but at someplace like Yachtman's I do a salad and the lobster bisque and I'm done. Thankfully some FL friends joined us for a few days and I gave away most of my TS credits to them. It was an expensive lesson for me to learn. WE thought it was way too much food even with the regular plan. I can't imagine doing the deluxe!

Do you have annual passes? I ask because we buy the Tables in Wonderland card and find we do better with that (especially since it covers adult beverages). We always do at least 1 TS a day (breakfast or early lunch).

We had the DxDDP in Jan for 7 nights; 2 adults and DD5. We used all of our credits. We were stuffed at all times. But we loved it, saved lots of money and will do it again on our next trip:cool1: Lots of days we did 3 meals and it was a bit much. Next time we are going to use more 2 credit meals and use more snack credits for breakfast. DD is not a big eater but needs to eat regularly. We didn't really worry about getting our money's worth but we are big eaters so we definately saved and it was so convenient :worship:

You might also want to look into one of the dinner shows. It will cost 2 TS points per person though.

Try the lobster eggs benedict at GFC. It was awesome. One of the best breakfasts I've ever had.

A few thoughts.....

You're eating at the gf cafe ALOT. :confused3 Do you especially like it? If it were me, I'd be trying out some different restaurants.

We've done the DxDDP twice. (Both times were for the short part of a split stay.)

This past trip:

Day 1: (arrive) dinner at Jiko
Day 2: lunch at San Angel Inn, then dinner at Narcoossee's
Day 3: lunch at Chefs de France

Previous trip:

Day 1: dinner at Narcoossee's
Day 2: lunch at Olivias, then dinner at Jiko
Day 3: lunch at Le Cellier

I can't stress the sheer quantity of food you will be getting. Each meal includes 3 courses! Plan accordingly and really put a good amount of time between your meals.

If you still have extra snacks at the end, you can use them to buy candies and stuff to take home - at least they don't get wasted.

Have a good time!

we always do deluxe plan and eat at 2 TS pales at night then either do a TS breakfast or lunch. that way we dont "waste" any credits. Narcoossees is fabulous, 1900 PF has a great breakfast buffet. mama melrose is one of my personal least favorites...coral reef is good, GF cafe dinner is good, Whispering canyon cafe is good, i would chang eit up a little, but thats just me!

I think you're making a good choice by breaking it up into 1 and 2 TS over the course of the day. And just the fact that you're dining @ Cali Grill twice and Yachtsman once makes up for a lot of the money that you're spending...IF you feel as though you can take advantage of that. I can't tell you how many times DH and I have laughed quietly over the bill as we signed it - no way we'd spend that much money on dinner except for a birthday or other special occasion! In other words, live it up. It will pay for itself, believe me.

Actually, you will get 40 snacks . . . 2 per person, per day, plus a refillable mug for each of you. That's alot of noshing.

I only counted 25 meals (per 1) but may have counted wrong. We are doing the deluxe and were full each day. We did 1 TS breakfast and a signature or dinner show each night. We ended up taking 20 Mickey Rice Krispie treats home with us because we were full, and we used snacks for water and whenever we were hungry, which was not often. If you put things up as price of DxDDP vs OOP, then DxDDP will always win. But, if you add up what you would just purchase, then not really. If you want to use all the 1 TS and 2 signature, you could do Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge or upgrade other 1 TS meals to dinner shows Hoop de Do Review (HDDR) or Mickey Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness, Spirit of Aloha Dinner at Poly. You have some great choices. Have a great trip.

We're looking forward to our 3rd trip with the DxDDP and to me it looks like you've got a good plan. We do it about the same - either a 1 credit breakfast or lunch, followed by a signature dinner, with a few credits left unplanned for late-night room service or between-meals counter service.

The one thing I notice is that you have a LOT of GF Cafe breakfasts. Why not try Kona and/or The Wave on one or two of those mornings? The monorail makes them just as convenient as GF Cafe in terms of transportation, and they both get positive reviews overall.
