Had to reschedule our trip for this weekend :( and the only dates we can go are June 26 thru the 30th! We are staying at RPR so I think that will give some advantage but I'm worried and excited Diagon Alley will be open.

Can anyone offer touring advice? I usually go at a slower time of year so I am nervous!!!

use the early entry perk.
if the express lines are long, check out the single rider lines.

not much else i can say as hp2 's opening will change all our touring plans.

check the darkside for threads that report how they are working with the opening of the new hp2.

since you will be staying on site, do the parks in the morning, take a hotel break in the afternoon.
return to the park later afternoon (4:30) as some crowds could thin out for then.

Sounds good thank you much. I'll update my experiences once I get back :)

Perhaps a silly question :duck:. For early entry, are only the HP exhibits/areas open - or are the entire parks/other rides/attractions open as well?

Thanks!

as of now, only the hp section is opened for early entry.

when summer/hp2 begins, i could see another section open.
that is strictly my speculation though.

I can relate. The only time for us to go was June 28th - July 5th and we will be at Cabana Bay with only the early entry perk. However, I think going in knowing it will be busy and planning to take advantage of the early entry should help at least somewhat. I think we will still have a great trip and so will you.

Thank you! Have a wonderful trip!

We have a trip booked for June 21-23 (booked 12 months ago) and it looks like we'll be smack in the middle of Diagon Alley opening! Fortunately, we will be staying at HRH and will take advantage of both express pass and early entry.

Our plan is to RD the early entry at US and run to Gringott's, then ride Hogwart's Express over to IOA and explore Hogsmeade on one day, then on the other day we'll RD early entry at IOA and ride Hogwart's Express over to US and explore Diagon Alley's 'atmosphere'. We plan to leave the HP areas an hour after 'regular' park open, then spend the remainder of the morning and early afternoons doing rides in other areas, which should still be relatively fast with express pass. We have our lunch reservations already booked. Then early afternoon we will go back to the hotel for a break, and return after dark to check out the HP areas at night, when they are less crowded.

We'll see how well this works!

That sounds like a great plan! Mind if I copy it :)

Go right ahead! Keep in mind I am guessing with this, seeing as Diagon Alley hasn't opened yet, but it is based on the assuumption that patterns will be similar to the first year or so of WWoHP craziness. These plans also assume that the Hogwart's Express will be running during early entry. If it is not, we will line up to ride it as soon the parks officially open.

You will want to make your dining reservations now. Use opentable.com . There are dining threads around, but I highly recommend Mythos (make sure you have the rice krispie sushi on the kids menu for dessert) and we also enjoy Confisco Grille and The Kitchen.

The important thing to remember is that while Diagon Alley (and to some extent, Hogsmeade, since it is on the other end of the Hogwart's Express) will be packed, the other areas of the park should be much more lightly attended, so you should still be able to move through these areas quickly using Express Pass. Being at a close hotel, you can take that afternoon swim/nap during the hottest, busiest part of the day. The Harry Potter areas will be least crowded during early entry and the last couple of hours at night, right before park closing. Try to take advantage of all of this and you should be okay.

Thanks again :) I will take advantage of the later hours, express and early entry. I'm getting really excited!!!

We managed to change our trip a few years ago to opening weekend of WWOHP and this year we are going the same as you from 6/28 to 7/2 so knowing us will be smack dab in the middle of it again.

We had a great time though, did the early entry one day but the rest of the trip went over to the area a few hours prior to park closing to walk around when it was not as busy.

Staying onsite helped out tremendously, we were at RPR that year and this enabled us to make the most of our trip using EP. We still had plenty of time at the pools and to ride everything we wanted to. I loved the fact that DD would want to ride something just one more time and we could get on it in minutes even when the posted standby was 90 minutes.

The one day we did early entry they also opened up the Sky High Trolley ride as we were waiting in Suess Island and my sister took my daughter there since we were in front of it. They got off the ride right as the WWOHP area opened up and had to catch up to us. Of course by catching up to us they upset several people who thought they were cutting the line, but it was just bad timing on her part but luckily we only had moved a few feet.
