Dang it! My computer picked up a virus. I have Microsoft Security Essentials. I always make sure it is updated and run my virus scan regularly. Today I got a pop up for Antivirus 2010 and knew right away that it was trouble. I ran microsoft security and it detected a virus. It said that the virus is quarantined, but I'm still having trouble.

I have the computer in safe mode and I still can't get rid of the virus. Can anyone suggest how to get rid of this stupid virus?

Thanks!

I have always had great results downloading Malwarebytes and running it on the computer that had issues. Here is a link to the download page LINK
Just click on the Free Version and follow the steps. Hope this helps .... :cool2:

One easy way to get rid of it is to do a system restore to one of your restore points that is prior to when you got infected.

To help reduce chances of getting this type of virus in the future, use Firefox browser with AdBlock Add-on installed. If you are a bit more computer-savy, also install NoScript to disable JavaScripting.

This type of virus sometimes piggybacks onto the JavaScript contained in the banner ads some websites display.

Thanks for the tips! I'm going to give those a try.:thumbsup2

Oh, how do you do a system restore? Would I find that in my control panel?

start, programs, accessories , system tools, restore .. if you have xp.
This doesnt always work. I just had to clean someones computer and nothing would work. Everything i went to try, the virus starting shutting the program i was working with. UGh had to do a full reformat.

try malwarebytes 1st before trying to restore.
