Need help from the experts! Please!

So we have decided to take my 2 yo nephew along with us on our trip in Dec. This will be both his and my sons first trips. My son will be 10 mos at the time. Here is my problem though, we live in TX, nephew is in AL. Closest big airport is birmingham for them and I can fly either IAH or Hobby. My brother and his wife are also going to try to come, but aren't sure as of yet. I am trying to figure out the best way to get my nephew and get him back home. Any suggestions? My brother could probably fly with him to MCO and then fly back to MCO to pick him up. Maybe that would be the cheapest route for us? Help!

Wow, you are a great aunt!!! I can't imagine taking someone else's 2 y/o with me to WDW...good for you. I would imagine that you would be better off flying to an airport closest to your brother, and then flying on to MCO. Or just have your brother fly your nephew to MCO where you could meet him and take over. But, since I'm not at all familier with your area, I can't be sure if that's the best idea.

Aww thanks, but he is very well behaved. My brother and I are very firm believers in discipline and we grant each other the right to discipline each others children and they know it! LOL Besides my brother is in the military so an unruley child isn't going to happen. he's a typical 2 yo but so is my 5 yo! I can't wait for the trip, my dd and dN get along great. they adore one another. We will be celebrating my sons first trip, dn first trip and bday as well as dh and I's 9th anniversary! now to just get this figured out and I'm all set!

Has the 2 year old been away from Mom or Dad for extended periods before? If not it could make for a long trip for everyone! If he has stayed with you before and feels at home with your family it should be fine, but everyone would probably have a lot more fun if his mom and/or dad came along. If they are going to the expense of flying 2 round trips to get him and pick him up maybe one of them could just come and stay for the trip and not have to make 2 RT's?? Just a thought.

Personally, I'd wait until both kids were older for such a trip.

Yes, my nephew will go will with us no problems. I think I am going to just book my family flying into Birmingham instead of a direct flight from Houston to Orlando. My brother will definitely be able to drive my nephew to Bham and pick him up there. It is only about an hour from their house. Then even if my brother and his wife get to go, then we can all just be on the same flight together and that would work out great. They really want to go, but it depends on her job and unfortunately, they won't know until at least September.

As far as waiting to take them, we go every year. We took dd for the first time when she was 14 mos old and it is some of my fondest memories. I wouldn't miss taking them this young for anything. She has been every year since. We even had her 2nd bday at CP and plan on doing the same for DN 3rd while we are there. He will turn 3 Dec. 27th.

We took our 2 year old DGS last year and he had a great time! That's one lucky kid to have an aunt and uncle like you!

Thanks for the replies. Well my brother is military like I said and he found out they may come down on orders. We have decided the best thing to do will be to book my families air from Houston as planned in the beginning. Once we know exactly where they will be living and wether or not my brother and SIL can come, we will book my nephews and one of his parents will fly him to houston and then fly back home. Yes, it might cost a little more in the long run, but it is the safest bet. Thanks for the help!
