I am desparately seeking brochures on sites in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. My 6 year old has recently been diagnosed as being a High Functioning Autsitic and someone suggested that I get as much information for him as possible before we go so that he can see the places we are going to visit.

We've done some of this online but he is much more comfortable with things he can carry around and look at. So I'm looking for someone who can send me some brochures (man I can't spell tonight!) on the Aquarium, the children's museum, the Baltimore zoo, and the Constellation.

I will gladly reimburse for postage and such so...

If anyone can help I would be so appreciative!!

thanks!

I don't have any (and don't work downtown) but the Baltimore Visitor Center should be able to send you a whole packet of information. I know they sent some to my hospital once to give out to the patients (wish I had kept some)

Here's a link

If they can't help you (and I don't see why they wouldn't be able to), I should be able to grab you some brochures. You've picked some great attractions, especially the aquarium, which is my personal favorite of all Baltimore's attractions. May I also suggest the Maryland Science Center? It's highly educational as well as A LOT of fun! :teeth:

Thank you!! That's the kind of information i was looking for but couldn't find a phone number to call. I'll call them in the morning!!

Thank you so much!!

the science center was another place we were thinking of. There is so much to do that I'm not sure how much we will get done in 4 days. I would like to go to Fort McHenry too but I'm not sure that would interest an almost 3 year old and a 6 year old.

IJust don't know how much time to allot for everything. So we'll play it by ear!!

thank you!!

I will second the recommendation for the Science Center....definately my favorate with the kids. It's very interactive and has both visual and tactile stimulation for the kids.

I like the aquarium, but be warned that you can not take a stroller in and you will do a lot of lifting to see the higher tanks.

If you are coming in the warm weather, consider taking a day and devoting it to coming down my way and checking out Annapolis, it's beautiful.

The zoo is ok, but there's a better, free zoo just down 95 in DC.

Another option is to use the Water Taxi service. You can take it to Fort. McHenry too...it's a really nice way to get around and you pay a flat fee for the whole day.

uh-oh...we were really underwhelmed at the DC zoo a few years ago...so that's not saying much about the Baltimore zoo. Well, they like animals so we'll give it a shot.

As for the stroller...the 3 year old doesn't use it but my older son does and so i will take a note from his doc with his DX and ask them to let him keep the stroller to help with his anxiety. Their website says if there is a disability then you can keep the stroller. But if they say no then we deal with it.

I think the boys would like the water taxi and that might be an incentive to get them to enjoy the Fort!! heheh bribery!

I might be Downtown tomorrow if so I should be able to hop over to the Visitors center for you. I'll PM you or post here tomorrow on if I ended up down there.

Another thing to try if they are up and running are the DUCKs they are a tour that goes in both the water and road around the Inner Harbor.

Here's a link to the visitors center.

I used to love exploring Ft. McHenry with my Dad, and we took our kids there too. It's a perfect spot for a picnic lunch, right on the water, if the weather is nice. I also think the zoo is worth the cost so hope you enjoy it!

I called this mroning to request information but I got an automated line and so i have no idea how long it will take to get the info.

Thank you for the advice and assistance!!

The zoo used to be wonderful, but a year ago or so, they "remodeled" it, meaning they shrunk it AND they raised the price. I haven't been there since because I was so disappointed with the news. Maybe it's still nice, though. I can't tell you one way or the other.

Well I maid it down and they were closed at 8:30am don't know why I tought they were open that early but noooo.

I might make it back down with-in this weekend.

As far as the zoo What they have done is made great improvements but at the cost of the amount of things there. we still love it and get seanon passes (as I can see the monkeys from my rooftop with binoculars during this time if they are outside). We just did the free days and ti was a mob but still nice. There are a lot of tings right at the IH to keep you busy . Geppi has a great comics section over at Camden yards along with the Sports legeans.

I'll let you know also did you try to E-mail then at the contacts that may get a faster response then the phone message.

I'll be flying out of BWI tomorrow and back on Tues and could pick some up for you if nobody else can.
