Need help from RCI expert!

If your parents deposited the points into RCI before 01-15-11, Wyndham points probably won't have the trade power to pull DVC. In that case, I'd try for Wyndham Bonnet Creek which is next door to Disney's Caribbean Beach resort. Also, any of the HGVC (Hilton Grand Vacation Club) resorts in Orlando would be a nice trade. If you stay non DVC, then you can drop the $95 fee.

Yes, you can purchase the dining plan on an RCI trade reservation into DVC.

Good luck.

Keep in mind that HGVC is a 1-in-4 with RCI, though, in case you wanted to book it at another time. I am judicious about my HGVC trades because I don't want to need one elsewhere and not be able to book it due to the 1-in-4 (years) exclusion, KWIM?

RCi told me the 1 in 4 was resort specific, not brand specific. As they let me recently request an ongoing search for the one at Seaworld or International drive even though I've traded into Parc Soleil this year. Hm, hopefully the RCi rep knew what they were talking about when they put that search in for me.

One more question - can you purchase the dining plan on an RCI reservation?
Yes, for 7 nights for all in the party. I haven't not formally confirmed that they can't segment the reservations as they could a direct member reservation but I'd be surprised if they would.

Hilton is 1 in 4 and my understanding is it is resort specific. I'm not sure if it's enforced. However, it does technically apply to Hilton members trading in which most restrictions don't. It does not apply to points trade either as starting the clock or restricting future trades. There are only 2 I am aware of that are broader than resort specific though something in the back of my brain tells me there are some regional blocks in HI as well. Those are the Mayan system which restricts you to 1 in 5 to ANY of their resorts through RCI, there are limited exceptions for their system members but they must trade out to get back in. The other I am aware of is the Holiday Inn resort system in Orlando, formerly Orange Lake, which is 1 in 3. This does not apply to it's members and unlike has been reported on this board previously, does not apply to all of their system resorts, only the 4 that are together in Orlando. I suspect their other resorts have individual blocks.

As a rule RCI points are independent of such restrictions either 1 in 3,4,5 or regional blocks with DVC being the exception. Also, private exchange, rentals and exchanges in through the independent exchange companies are exempt though I'm sure there will be an exception at some point.
