Hi, we will be staying at OKW in a couple weeks and I'm wondering which building I should request. We will be staying in a studio and we will have a rental car. I'm looking for these things in a room.

1. Quiet, DH must have that afternoon nap.

2. Near a pool - does not need to be the main pool but
withing walking distance so DS's can go.

3. Decent view - golf course or water would be best.

These are my top three priorities. Non-smoking would be good too. I've looked at the map, but I'd love to have your opinions and help.

Thanks

TIG.:p

It may be best just to include these items in your request. The problem with asking for a specific building(s) is that if it is not available, then they will give you anything else. So, if you list your priorities in order, they try to meet them as best they can and will give you the closest match as opposed to all or nothing.

I would think that most buildings at OKW would meet your requests, as long as you don't have to be near the main pool. OKW is generally always pretty quiet in the afternoon.

One area that will meet all of your needs that is not around the main pool area are the buildings near the turtle pond pool. We have stayed at Bldg. 32 & 33 and they are quiet , near the pool ( a little walk ), great view of the golf course and some small ponds, and very close to the bus stop. You do get some noise from the buses but the rooms are very quiet. Bldg. 43 is one of our faviorite spots because it is very close to the pool, a little longer walk to the bus, and you get a great view of the golf course and a pond right out of your patio. You do get a little more noise from the road that goes to DD but we have found that the only major noise from that road are the buses and they are not very loud. We have not stayed at the Millers Rd. or South Point Rd. pool areas.
Enjoy your stay at OKW and we do wish we were going now.

The only request that we have ever made is for a non-smoking room. As far as which building, we always leave that to chance. I have to agree that there really isn't a "bad" location at OKW (unless you really want to be near the main pool). This DVC'er thinks that room location is one thing that you don't have to worry about.

OK, thanks. I will probably just leave it to chance, I agree and I think that's where the problem with deciding which building comes in, they all look good.

Thank

18 days until we meet the mouse.

For views and quiet, I like the third floor…(it does require carrying the bags up three flights and after a day of gorilla combat at one of the parks three can feel like six)….but there is no one overhead and the views can be spectacular. Have a great trip.

And once again, I'll offer my usual warning about OKW rooms and noise....

tell them you do not want any of the rooms near the rotary on Turtle Pond. The sound of the buses every few minutes will drive you nuts.

Call member services and have them add requests for top floor and nonsmoking to your reservation. Top floor rooms are quietest.

We like the Building 26 cluster. It's next to the Peninsular Rd. bus stop and convenient to Turtle Krawl but is set back from the road so it's quiet. These units have a golf course view.

I have to disagree. Buildings 49 and 50 can be very noisy with traffic on Buena Vista Drive. Thank goodness my DH had them move us! Once, I was in a corner 1 BR in Building 56 that had a view of Peninsular Road and some trees :(. I've liked buildings 52, 21, 25 & 64.

Been going to OKW since 1992 and always stay at Old Turtle Pond area and it is always quiet and relaxing especially for long naps in the afternoon. I recommend old turtle pond. JP:o :) :bounce:
