I am looking to stay in the Midtown East area. Using tripadvisor, I have narrowed down to a few choices: Doubletree Metropolitan, Doubletree NY Chelsea, Radisson Lexington, or NY Helmsley. Are any of these NOT good choices? I am also open to other suggestions. I just want to make sure I am not booking a dump. Thanks!

Are you staying in the Midtown East area to save money? Not that the general area is bad (I actually prefer the restaurants in the Eastside of town), but there are some great finds more centrally located, not sure when you are looking to go, how long and budget, but if you're not heart set on that area maybe there are some other good suggestions.

Try looking at real life reviews on tripadvisor. There are also pictures from recent hotel guests on the site. I read many of them, realizing that different people have different expectations. It has never failed me.:goodvibes

I stayed in the Doubletree Metropolitan about 6 years ago before they revamped it. It was nice then so would imagine it is better now. I walked past there last week & it looks fine from the outside:thumbsup2

I want to be close to friends that live in the area, I will only be there for a short trip and won't have much time to do anything else.

I skimmed the reviews from the last year or so to make sure nothing really awful stood out, along with price, location, etc. I just wanted to hear some other opinions to go along with that.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt attached to Grand Central Terminal last May, courtesy of Priceline. Great location, hotel was ok, not super.
