Thanks so much.....this is our first trip to the POLY!!!:earsgirl:

I'm like you Chrissy. I too have GV booked, first timer at that resort also. I have 2 girls, 7&9, probably want to add proximity to pool. We'll be there 10/8-10/10. Advice from all you Poly pros? We'll actually visit WL first, another new resort fo us. We're old pro's at CR and Have also stayed at the Swan (not a favorite) and GF (oh, baby what a hotel!)

Thanks in advance,

Robin

I'm definitely not an expert, we just returned from our first trip to Disney (well my first as an adult, I stayed at the Poly when I was 12 but have NO clue what building we were in!). We were on the third floor of the Tokelau building, on the east side (not overlooking the quiet pool). The view was fine, actually we were in the room so infrequently that we hardly ever looked outside. The one thing I didn't like in that building was that the slats on the balcony weren't spaced close enough together, so my 18 month old could have slipped out if she maneuvered herself just right. Turned out not to be a big issue since we hardly went out there. But in that building the second floor also has balconies. It was centrally located, took us two minutes to get to the bus stop or GCH or volcano pool. We walked back from the TTC once after returning from Epcot and it was maybe a 5 minute walk (we are fast walkers though).

I initially wanted the Samoa building, first floor, volcano pool side so that when the baby slept, whoever was in the room with her could at least be sitting outside while the other parent and older dd were in the pool. But they only had a second floor, which had no balcony, so we ended up in Tokelau.

I have been to the Poly 5 times in the last 3 years. It is definitely our favorite! We have only stayed in two buildings, both gardenview. They are Samoa and Raratonga. Both building do not have balconies on the second floor. Third floor has balconies and first floor has nice patios. Raratonga is right next to the Great Ceremonial House (GCH). It has the monorail for viewing on one side and the quiet pool on the other side. The monorail side does face the parking lot but you really cannot see it. There is so many trees, bushes, and flowers there that you only get the monorail view which is great! We loved sitting on the balcony, 3rd floor, and watching the monorails go by. You can't hear them as they are so quiet but the view is great. The building is right next to the GCH and a one minute walk to the volcano pool. It is the most convenient one there, IMO. Samoa is also great! We has this one in May and it has become our favorite building. We had 3rd floor, on the end nearest to the lake, facing the volcano pool. This view was incredible! Not only did we get a perfect view of the pool but also of the lake. I am amazed that these aren't considered lagoon view as we saw as much of the lagoon as we did of the pool. We could also see some MK fireworks. I loved this room! It is right next to the volcano pool and a two minute walk to the GCH. My mom has a tough time walking and had no problems walking to the GCH. I requested Samoa third floor facing the volcano pool for our trip in 5 weeks. My second choice would be Raratonga 3rd floor monorail view. You will have a great trip! We always do. Sorry to ramble! Any other questions ask away! :)

I am going to put in a word for Aotearoa which rarely gets a mention on the boards. We had our first trip to WDW in July so did not know what to expect. We had a third floor room, north side. It is officially garden view but we had a partial Lagoon/Cinderella castle view, and uninterupted view of Wishes every evening from our balcony. (Tikkimans site shows the partial lagoon view room numbers, we were in 3227, some have better "partial views" than others!). The longhouse is close to the GCH and only a short walk to the main pool. It is a further walk to the bus stop, but with grounds like those at the Poly the walk itself was a pleasure.

When we stayed there, we were in the Somoa building and although I don't remember the room #, we were right in the middle of the building and had great view of the volcano pool.(1st floor)
It was close to the Great Ceremonial House and beach and not a bad walk to the ttc to pick up the monorail.
Hope you have fun

Tokelau - it's a great location. Close to everything. Wonderful garden views. We always fax in a room request about 3 days prior to arriving. We ask for a non-smoking room with a balcony or patio and we ask for a nice garden view of something other than the parking lot. We've been twice and both times we've gotten Tokelau. Love it!!

We just got back on the 10th of August. We stayed in Fiji for the second year in a row.

The third floor has balconies and the ground floor has patios. We were on the third floor, marina view. Fantastic! Same floor, same view as the year before.

We were about 50-75 yards from the GCH. It took about a minute to get there. Very convenient for early morning or late night food and drinks.

The other side of the building would have more plants to see but our side was fine. Also, you can watch the marina while sitting on the balcony. It's fun to see people try to park the pontoon boats, get the WaterMice in or try to stay dry while it's raining(while we were there we had a couple of hard, hard rains that caught several people unprepared).

Whatever you decide, have fun. I know we did. It's a great resort.
