Can anyone help with suggestions on a good hotel to stay at when visiting the Hockey Hall of Fame?

The Hall of Fame is right downtown, so most of the downtown hotels will work. Last time I went we stayed at the Sheraton Central across from the Eaton's Centre and used the PATH system to get to the HoF. It was a 20 minute walk with the kids in a stroller.

We loved the Westin Harbour Castle :thumbsup2 . Quite often they have packages that include your HHOF admission, parking, and breakfast (the buffet at the Mizzen is excellent).

We also can highly recommend the Residence Inn on Wellington Street West. Another awesome property, with more space in the rooms than the Westin.

Avoid the Delta Chelsea. We were extremely disappointed in our recent stay. Aside from the indoor waterslide, this property had no redeeming qualities.

Depends on what you are looking for in terms of cost, the hotel features and proximity, but the post re: Westin is a good one. It's a nice walk and I believe the even offer packages as poster said.
Plus depending where your room is it's close to the Harbour and can mean a nice view... And in a hockey state of mind, not far from Air Canada Centre - home to God's team, the Toronto Maple Leafs

Sorry I did not come back to thank you guys sooner. We ended up choosing a hotel that is NOT downtown. The costs were quite a bit higher, and we didn't want to have to worry about parking ($ and availablity). We also decided to add Canada's Wonderland to the trip (we have Cedar Point passes, so we can get in free there). So, we thought a hotel on the outskirts might be better. We will be staying in the Corporate Airport Centre area (Edlington Rd.). Is there a way to get downtown via public transportation, or are we just as well off driving (we realize we will have to pay for parking...)

The plan is for Canada's Wonderland on Saturday, and HHOF on Sunday. Just a quick trip, not a whole lot of time to do anything else. Considering the Medieval Times dinner on Saturday night, but not sure if the kids will want to leave the park once we get there....

Public transportation from Pearson to downtown is not great. I would drive it (assuming you're used to big city driving), you can park for $20 or less. You could also cab it, but it'll cost you abouta $40.

Just a quick trip report:

Wow, there is a LOT of traffic in Toronto. I mean WOW! I wonder how much of it was normal, and how much of it was due to the Canadian National Exhibition.

We decided to drive up Saturday morning instead of Friday night. We went straight to the Hockey Hall of Fame. It was okay. Yes, just okay. The kids (13 y/o) did some of the interactive exhibits. The virtual shooting and goalie games didn't seemed to work all that great. Ex. The pucks were coming out before the people on the screen had taken a shot, etc.

Enjoyed seeing the Stanley Cup. I don't know if it was the real one or not. Paid $10 to park right underneath the Hall, which I think was very reasonable!

I cannot get over how much construction is going on in Toronto! Cranes above highrises, everywhere!!!

Went to Tony Roma's for dinner. Never did find any Poutine (sp?) to try. Noticed that they sell gravy at Canada's Wonderland. I guess that would be poutine without the cheese curds???

The Hampton was very nice and clean. Shared a pool with the Homewood Suites which is also attached. Surprisingly, the pool wasn't busy at all. The kids swam that evening after dinner.

Headed to Canada's Wonderland Sunday morning. Very, very crowded. A very nice park, I must say, with lots of shade and places to sit! :) Only had enough time to ride some of the main rides. Left the park at 3:00 p.m. Took 45 minutes to get across the Peace Bridge.

I can't get over how many different ethnic groups there are in Toronto! I didn't think we'd be hearing much French, but really did hear a lot of people speaking it (along with a lot of other languages, too). Dh thinks they may have been visiting from Quebec becasue of the CNE....?

I was surprised I couldn't get cell phone service. (Sprint) I just assumed I would be able to. Not a big deal. Thankfully, there were no emergencies where someone may have been trying to get ahold of us.

Did I mention how bad the traffic was?
