My husband and I are going to be camping for the first time in years the last week in Oct. at FW . We have always loved it there and want to experience FW again.
Our problem is that my husband has developed some health problems in the last year and he finds it almost imposible to get out of an air mattress even the double raised ones. He has health problems which make it necessary for him to be up 3-4 times a night.
A cot tends to flip over when he tries to push himself up and he really doesn't like them. The twin portable bed with legs that I set up this week will let him get up but will not hold the air for more than a couple of hours. My husband isn't that large, but is 6'1 and 235lbs We replaced it this weekend and will set it up and see if it was maybe just a leak. I can't remember the manufacture but has anyone any other ideas. Should I get a double size just for him?

Here are my thoughts .....

I am 6'3'' - 255 lbs (trying to get down to 230!), last year I had spinal surgery to remove a herniated disc because I lost function to my left leg ...not to mention the pain was excruciating.

So, when I entertained the idea of going to the Fort in Oct, I told my DW that we needed cots but for obvious reasons they have to be good. I went to Cabela's and ordered 2 - Item #51-6068 Cabela's Outfitter XL Cot with Organizer (check it out on their website). The are very robust, huge in size and they do not tip when I try to get out of them. They are rated for about 500+ lbs or more I believe .... something crazy.

Anyway, I've used them on a couple local camping trips and they've been great. All in preparation for a week at Disney!! 2 more months to go!

Thanks for all the help. I went on line and I think it should work for him as well. It looks like we will miss each other at WDW as we will not be down until Oct 26 but I hope you enjoy yourself as much as we expect to. This will be our first time down in the fall and for Halloween and we are really looking forward to it.
Thanks again

I have the same cot and it's great. For even more comfort place an inflatible sleeping pad on the cot as a matress. It makes it more comftrouble and it insulates you on the bottom. If you don't you could get cold because you crush the insulation in the sleeping bag when you lay on it, rendering it just about useless.

Thanks for mentioning that ..... I forgot to. We too put small air cushions on top of the cot for comfort and insulation.

Just to let you know that we took your advice and finally got to the US and got the cot that was suggested. We set it up and it works perfectly for DH. Thanks to all of you for the suggestions and help. I am getting so excited about this trip and in less then a month we will be there.

Hope to see you there. We'll probably be in the 2000 loop. We get ther on the 25. We'll be the ones with all the kids. Look for our green Mickey. I just got a queen size raised air bed from Wllie World. Set it up yesterday and we loved it. I still need to get another for the other tent, but it should work out great for us. Have and AWESOME trip
