:confused3 I can't get the search feature to work, and I know I saw a thread several days ago about "Flying with fluid in the ear". I didn't pay much attention to it then, but now I think my dd might have to fly with fluid in her ear. I am taking her back to the dr. today, but I was just curious about that thread. Does anyone know where it is? Thanks!!!:grouphug:

UPDATE...we went to the dr. today to see if she still had her ear infection. She doesn't, which is good, except that she DOES have fluid in both ears. The dr. said it could last a couple of weeks. I asked him what we should do since we're flying and he told me to give her some motrin about a half hour before takeoff and it should be still working for landing. Bring gum. That's it! I didn't like his answer, so I'm going to take some of the advice I've gotten here and on the other thread. Thank you!

I can't really help you with the thread. And the search function rarely works ever since they changed it. BUT, have you tried google? I'm amazed at what google will pull up for you on the DIS. If you remember you started the thread (or any poster), you can google their screen name and it will show up. If not, google DIS boards and the thread title/topic--it will generally come up.

If this doesn't help, hopefully someone else here can help you.

Don't know how old your daughter is, but our ENT gave us flying instructions for our family to prevent ear problems. I have fluid in my ears frequently and am planning on following it to the "T". Luckily our 18 month old has tubes now and will not have an issue with his ears and flying.

PURCHASE;
1. afrin nasal spray
2. sudafed tablets (for children substitute Sudafed liquid)

HOW TO USE WITH AIRPLANE FLIGHTS:
1. Use sudafed one or two tablets the day before, day of and day after flight.
2. When plane begins descent, it is then that you use 2 squirts fo Aprin in each nostril.
3. Also, chew gum, yawn, stretch jaw, pop ears.
4. Look for "Ear Plane" at the pharmacy and use as directed. (sold at Walgreens)

I have personally used "ear planes' and they helped immensely!
