One of our Saint Bernards, Our Tallulah. I dont know if this kind of post is allowed at all. We are desperate to find a responsible home adults only for our 3 Year old Saint, Tallulah.

you can PM me for more details if you know any one who is a responsible person and within 500 miles of NYC. We are willing to drive her to the right person.

She's the Short Haired Dog in my Siggy. She and the other Dog have begun not to get along and so we have decided with much sadness to rehome Tallulah.

Have you checked into St Bernard Rescues in your area?

That is so sad. :( I would adopt it. ( I don't live far from NYC but we just got a new dog.) I wish you the best of luck in finding a great home for it.

Oh man if I didn't have kids I would take her. We've been talking about getting a dog and I love big dogs. Good luck I hope you find a good home for her.

That is such a shame, I would be heartbroken. Have you had her since she was a pup ? I just got a Basset Hound puppy or I would have seriously considered it. I had Saint Bernards growing up and they were so protective of me. I hope you find a really good home. Keep us informed. :worried:

We've had her since 8 weeks old. The other dog is her half sister, 1 year older. The huge mistake we made was allowing her to come into heat, which in turn made her want to be alpha dog and in turn caused many BAD Fights with the othe female. She probably would do OK with a male dog, but the Female/Female thing is just NOT working out and when they get into fights its pretty scary because they are large. She is otherwise a very good loveing dog and yes she is protective of us too. But for the safety of her and the other dog we feel we have no other choice but to find her another home. I am posting like crazy to rescues and such. If everyone could help keep this bumped for awhile I'd appreciate it so much.

Thanks!

Is she spayed?

Maybe that would help...with the aggressiveness, I mean. Not the placement.

She is spayed. It didnt help and now we feel we are at the point that for thier safety, 1 has to go, and since she came after the 1st and is younger she has a better chance of finding a home.

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I've been in that situation too, and it's a horrible decision to have to make, but I know first hand the damage that can be done when two females don't get along. We have Great Danes, so believe me, I know what you're talking about, and it's impossible to get in the middle of the fight without risking getting seriously hurt yourself.

I agree with the others who said that rescue is your best bet. They'll be able to properly screen the new family so you can at least have the peace of mind that your Tallulah is going to the best home possible.

Best of luck with finding a great family for her. I know how heartbreaking this decision must be :(

Is she not good with children? I was just wondering if your request for adults only was due to her size or if there was more to it. She is beautiful!

We have 2 daughters who she is excellent with and they are all over her. But she nipped one of them a few weeks ago and we really arent sure why. Left no marks no nothing, but it was a warning nip of some sort. This is the reason we say no children. My daughter is heartbroken that she has to go, she is SO attatched to her. I just dont want to be responsible for her nipping any other kids, so that is why I say no children.

That makes perfect sense. We are a giant breed loving family and I have a 185 lb male neo. I saw your post then saw we live close to each other and we have been looking to rescue a female. I just LOVE these huge babies! But, I have children. I appreciate the honest answer, you are a very responsible owner.

I hope you find the PERFECT home and I have no doubt you will. Best of luck.:)

We had a Saint Bernard years ago that did this to one of my friends coming over for a sleepover :(. She was fine with the kids in the family--don't know why she did that either.

I hope you find her a good home.

Any chance of a dog behaviorist opinion before giving her away?

That is a shame that they get into fights like that. Is there any other options left for you to keep her...have you spoken to a vet about training or help from an outside source? I never had this happen, so I really don't know if anything could be done or if they'd always be that way. :confused3
I would really hope that one of the rescues would be able to help; I always hear such great things about rescues.

Beautiful dog. I wish that we could but my minituare poodle would have a cardiac if a large dog came into our house!

We do have kids as well.

I'm sorry. Here's a bump for your thread! Best of luck

I was also going to ask if you have considered a session with a trainer who specializes in dogs with aggressive tendencies. We had one private lesson with our dog and there was a world of difference in her behavior. The trainer worked with me and showed me how to work with our dog. It was a lot of work, but very worth it.

Good luck with your dog. If you're not able to work through these problems I hope you are able to find a great home or rescue organization soon.

I am sorry. I hope you are able to find her a good home!

I wish I had a better experience with recues though. At one point we had to look at getting one of our German Shepherds a new home. He had started showing real aggression against our DS & it was not a situation we were going to allow. The GSD recue here offered to post his picture on their website, but that was it. They could not help us find a temporary home. It was an unsafe situation to keep him in our home, and there was nothing else they could offer us but posting a bio & his pic on their site. :sad2:
