I need some advice and knew you guys could help. I have been trying to get my brother to go on a family trip to WDW for three years now. He recently got engaged and will get married next year, so if I can't convince him to go this year, he won't be able to go for a couple of years. He hasn't been since I was 12 and he was 9 (18 years ago people) so he has NO IDEA :confused3 what it is like now and what he is missing.

DH didn't want us to do a return trip this year because we are getting ready to build a house, but I have him talked into going on a family trip with my mom, DB and his financee if I can convince DB to go.

So far, I've shown him our vacation pictures, parts of our home videos, had a vacation planning video sent to his home that he didn't know was coming, sent him e-cards from Disney.... Please :jumping3: give me some ideas of how I can convince him to go.

What are his reasons for not wanting to go? Even if he doesn't like theme parks, can you convince him that there are other things he could do such as golf or that driving a racecar thing (can't remember the name of it)? Has he seen photos of deluxe hotels - going to a deluxe can be a vacation in itself. Does he think he won't have enough time to just do what he wants?

Yes, what are his reasons?

Does he not want to go for financial reasons or because he doesn't like
theme parks? .... Makes a big difference when forming a plan to convince him!

I think it is because of what a co-worker told him. One of his co-workers went about two years ago and took their toddler child, so it sounded like they didn't do a whole lot and his friend complained that it was just for kids. I tried to tell him that his friend probably missed a lot of stuff because they couldn't take their child on a lot of rides and that there IS alot of adult things to do. He does like theme parks and finances aren't an issue, but I think he just has the wrong idea. All he remembers is Magic Kingdom where it is tailored more for young at heart...

If he's staying away because it's a "kids" place then whatever you do don't tell him about "gay day"! :ssst:

Appeal to his guy side.
Tell him it's a great place to go with a fiancee.
All the dark places to catch a kiss. :love2:
All the great places to eat.
Explain the World Showcase beer drinking game. :drinking1
The ESPN restaurant.
The biking, the pools, the bikini's in the pools............. :cool2:

Then while he's thinking of that hit him with a guilt trip about your Mom not getting any younger and this might be that last time he really gets to spend some time with her and it will make her very happy. :wizard:

Good luck!

Well, if he likes theme parks and is worried about Disney being just for kid's, why don't you suggest he come and if he TRULY doesn't like Disney after two days, you will pay for him to go over to Universal! (Of course we all know you want have to do this, but he doesn't! LOL!)

Tell him about Rock N' Roll rollercoaster and Tower of Terror, Test Track, Splash Mountain, Kali River Rapids, Pleasure Island and all the great restaurants and shows or tell him to come visit this board, where very few kids post, just lots of adults who love Disney!

On a side note, I went with my family to Disney in December. I don't think my brother and SIL were really all that excited about going...I think they mostly went to take their little boy, but didn't think they would enjoy it much themselves....Well, let me tell you, they had a WONDERFUL time and are already talking about going back. I think Disney really surprises alot of adults who aren't as familiar with Disney as we are and think it's only a kid's place.

You're so good!

These are some really good ideas everybody. Thanks a lot!! DKLT - surely the beer drinking game and the bikinis in the pool will get him!!!

I thought if all else fails - I'll corner his fiancee and convince her to go !!

It's crowded enough without him, if he doesn't want to go on his own you can't make him and if you do it could ruin it for you as well. :cool1:
