So we are booked right now for movies in October for 10 days. We are starting to realize double beds won't do it. My DH is 6 ft 5 275 lbs. I'm a bit pooh sized 2xl. Not horrid. Our son is 4 ft 9 110 lbs. So we are deciding. POFQ or Coronado.:confused3 We need help choosing. I think those are the only mods with queens now right? Any info will be so helpful!:grouphug:

I've not stayed at POFQ yet, but CSR is lovely. The queen beds do make a difference. We've stayed at POP too, and those double beds are pretty tight, when you've got 3-4 people in the room.

1. I think it would help to look at the themes (and pictures) of the resorts to help you decide.
POFQ= New Orleans theme
CSR= Southwest theme

2. Resort size (Do you have a car? Do you mind walking?)
POFQ is pretty compact, not as much walking to do.
CSR is large & spread out. Its a bit of a hike, depending on where your room is-but there are multiple pick up spots for the buses.

We take our car when we go to Disney, so the size of the resort is never an issue for us.

Our room at CSR was in the rancho section. It was very quiet. :) The pool at CSR is very cool too (Mayan pyramid).

My family, having stayed at both, personally prefers Port Orleans. We found the resort nicer and much less spread out while also being a great location nearby Epcot and Downtown Disney. Then again, that is just my two cents, either choice would likely suit you better than any of the value resorts (we've also stayed at All Star Sports and agree that the double beds can be tight with more than two in the room). Enjoy your trip!

I agree completely. IMHO CSR is a fabulous choice if you have a car. We stayed there 3 times in Ranchos and really loved it but wouldn't have enjoyed it as much without the car.

I really love POP but I can tell you honestly the beds ARE tight for two larger people. That can really make a difference with getting a good nights sleep to have energy for the parks all day! :goodvibes

I'm agree with this also. If you plan on eating at CSR, I have been told CS is now a buffet possibly:confused3 so you may want to check that if it's an issue.

Bus stops may matter to you, multiple at CSR and 1 at POFQ.

Very compact at POFQ, pool close to shops and lobby. CSR is spread but it gave it a not crowded feel.

I LOVED:lovestruc CSR. Beautiful grounds, room decor was crisp. I feel like it had the most deluxe feel of all moderates.

POFQ is quaint, compact, quite and relaxing. Didn't love the food court. Love the ferry to DTD.

We've stayed at both POFQ and Coronado, and we prefer Coronado. We stayed in Ranchos section and loved it, but we also had a car. The pool slide at CSR is very good....a little more exciting than the one at POFQ. On the other hand, the water taxi from POFQ to DTD is a nice little attraction unto itself, and we like the POR food court a lot. It's easy to get to when staying at POFQ. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

The double beds at the values really are tight, and getting a decent night's sleep at Disney is so important so you have the energy to really enjoy the parks. I would only stay at a value if I am taking the kids on my own and don't have to share a bed with anyone, but even my skinny daughters are getting to be too big to share one of those double beds (they are 10 and 16). I would definitely change my reservation to a moderate in your shoes.

Our favorite is POFQ and the resort was refurbed late 2011 POR is also being refurb all with Queeen beds etc. Boat to Dowtown DIsney is wonderful and since they are Sister resort POFQ and POR you can share amenities at both. POR is a short walk along the river from FQ Nothing in FQ is more than 5 to 7 minute walk at the maximum. You should really enjoy either of these two resorts.:goodvibes

We've never been to CSR, but we've stayed at POFQ the last two times and love it. Our kids love the pool area and I think the food court is good. The boat to DTD is great! It's a nice, compact, quaint resort.

Thank you for all your great responses. :dance3:
We will not have a car, so the CSR looks so big you can get lost. :sad2:I love the ambiance of POFQ.:love:

I called yesterday and the CM said we can not book the queen beds in POR until they finish refurbing them. SUX!

But the POFQ only has Garden View left; so that tacks on a bit. I think 10 per day.. Anyone know where the Garden View is because I click on the option and it doesnt give any info about it.

DH says if he will be paying 3047.51 for that amount of days he better get free dining.:woohoo:

I dont have a pin for that or no discounts yet.

We have just come to realize that its not gonna work at the values.

We requested queen beds for our POR in March and had no issues at all. We had a garden view. A garden view can be anywhere that just shows grounds, no water and no parking lot so several buildings would be in that area. You can see on my TR link I have a photo of what the GV room was like at POR.

We stayed at CSR without a car. When we checked in we didn't like the location of the room (too far) and they were able to switch us after the 1st night. We were able to switch to bldg 8 which is close to the pool & a bus stop.

My suggestion whichever resort you pick, check in at the resort (not online) so you can check of you like the room they have assigned you. They are very helpful and try to please as much as possible.

Edit to add : POFQ does seem a bit more expensive this year than the other mods? Maybe you can compare their garden view prices with the "preferred room" prices on CSR & POR.

Now I am wondering if that CM knew what she was talking about?
She said until the refurb is done we can not book a Queen Bed without the royal rooms. :confused3:confused3

POR is having issues with the fact that for a short time, the WDW web site stated Queen rooms when booking. They later pulled that description due to the fact that until the refurb is complete, queens can not be guaranteed. Queens are available and photos are in my TR of them (very pretty with great bedding), they are just not a guarantee. If your at POR and have a new room, it will be a queen, old rooms are doubles. All Royal Rooms due have queens. She probably didn't explain it well. Hop this helps;)

I must have gotten lucky in 2010 bc we stayed at Sports and I was put in the first building even though we didnt pay for it and I did online check in. I think we are leaning more towards POR or POFQ. The go between in between the two of them is what makes it worth the while and my boys love to fish.

She probably means disney won't guarantee you a queen, since it is just a room request.
Looking at the pace they are going though, shouldn't nearly all the bldgs be done by Oct?

(Maybe if you do book there, be sure to put in a room req for a couple of bldgs you know are already refurb'd)

Just curious what days in Oct you are staying. We are staying Oct 10-16th at POFQ. We made our reservations last week and had no problem reserving water view. I wonder why they told you that you couldn't.
I've never stayed at CSR, but this will be my second time at POFQ and I really do love it. It's so easy to get around, and there really isn't a bad room because everything is close by.

10/25-11/5
They only told me Garden View was available for that time. :confused3
