I need help choosing a resort for December of 2009. I am planning on taking my dad to WDW for the first time for a short 4 night stay around the second week. My problem is choosing a resort that will be very pretty at Christmas, convenient, and is not overly "smelly" with Christmas smells.

My dad has very bad respiratory problems (which is why we are going more in the winter when it's not so hot and humid) and strong smells/smoke sets off an asthma attack.

I was thinking that perhaps we stay in a hotel that he considers too strong in the lobby maybe he could use a side entrance? Has anyone else had experience with this type of issue? Where would you recommend that would be a great hotel, but yet not so overly "smelly". I had originally though about the WL, Poly, or GF because of their proximity to MK.

I would say the Poly because it has separate buildings so the main building could be avoided if necessary. Contemporary also. I do not believe they use real trees in the resorts.

I was thinking about the Poly anyways because of its Monorail access and being able to take breaks during the day if we needed to for him to rest.

I will be bring my almost two year old also (in addition to my 6 year old at the time) and will need to let him nap and the same time as pa paw.

Depending on where you stay, you may need to ask for a room away from the (outdoor) smoking section. Last trip we stayed at POFQ, where the rooms open to the outside, and originally we ended up with a room that was right near the smoking section. DD had an asthma attack before we had our luggage moved in. The front desk was very accommodating in moving us, but now I know to specify when we book in the future.
