Please advice on the ones that really work and where I can get them at a good price.
I appreciate your help !

If you do a test drive for the Nissan Xterra, you can choose a set of Cobras as the reward. Go to the nissan web site and click on the xterra link at the bottom. Complete your info and print out form. I don't know when you are going so maybe this won't be soon enough for receiving them.

If my directions don't work-go to www.funtasia.net and click on the testdrive link.

We just purchased some before Christmas. After much research, ended up with a pair of the Motorola FR 60s and the T 289s. These were best suited for our family's needs and had good sound quality and transmission range. None of them will go 2 miles unless you're in the middle of the desert--certainly not in the Poconos! (I am originally from PA). I think I got them at Best Buy.

There are some good sites on the web for comparison. Unfortunately, I don't have them bookmarked anymore. I believe you will also find some info at www.wdwig.com ; and some links to other sites for sources of info.

Once you do a little research, you'll have a better idea what features will best suite your needs and price range. Good luck!

We purchased a pair of Motorolas for our July 2000 trip. They worked very well. In some cases We could talk from one park to the another. They are worth the money, no more waiting or trying to plan to meet up. We also use them on our other vacations and at nascar races.

Thanks everyone!!
If I had a pair of them last year it would have saved us a lot of problems!!

and have had great success with them at the parks. We actually could hear DD at Ft. Wilderness while we were in Frontierland in MK. DH uses them during hunting season, too.

Thank you so much for the heads up on the two-way radios from Nissan! I can't thank you enough! I was going to purchase another one for my DD and now I won't have to!

We love ours!

Dh and I are using our cell phones instead of 2-ways. Our service gives us no long distance chgs. We felt we would get better connection. Anyone else done this before?

Water-proof battery compartment is an important feature - particularly for Theme Parks - I believe the Cobra Microtalk is one of a few that has this.

Also, I would recommend rechargable batteries and a desktop charger.

I carry a Motorola FR60 with me when I walk at night and I get great reception. I tried 2 other brands (including Cobra) and ended up returning them because of terrible reception. Be sure to take a walk or drive to test them after you buy them.
