As Pooh would say " Think, Think, Think". Well, I have thunk myself into a state where I can't think no more!!
My problem is I can't decide between to ressies.
Boardwalk Inn standard (2 queens)room nov. 28 - Dec 6th.
or
Boardwalk Villas (one bedroom) Nov. 29th -Dec 6th @ villas
Nov. 28th (off site).
Group will be DH, DD 10, DS 5 and myself.
This is some of my issues and BTY, you guys are cheaper than a shrink. ;)

BOARDWALK INN
pro - 1562.00 for 8 nights w/AP rate
con -no kitchen
con-no washer and dryer
con- no king bed or privacy for mom and dad
pro-kids will be sleeping in a real bed

BOARDWALK VILLA
con-2200. for 7 nights (renting points) I can still cancel
pro-kitchen
pro-washer and dryer
con-kids sleeping on pull out bed for 7 nights
con-paying for preferred view-no guarantee for bw view.
pro-king bed.
pro-space

As I type it seems silly, but my brain is fried. We have always kept a cooler in the room to keep stuff cold, so I'm trying to decide if eating a few meals in will justify the 800+ difference in price. That amount would buy a lot of meals, even at Disney. We get the same amenities at both places.
Thanks for letting me ramble.
I appreciate all feedback.
Thanks,
Kim

For us that would be easy...Villas all the way. The kitchen and washer/dryer do it every time. Along with the privacy.

That is why when our kids were little, long before the villas...lol, we stayed at the cabins in Fort Wilderness...separate space for kids, separate space for adults. Also 2 tvs at night when you are trying to wind down.

Larger bathroom with tub and separate shower is great.

I don't think you will regret staying in a one bedroom villa.

As far as the kids, they are little and they will think it is cool.

Enjoy!

We've stayed at the BWV a few times and both times I slept on the pullout bed. It was fine.

I would select the Villas for the privacy factor and size of the room alone. The bathroom is split with one room having a sink, shower and toilet and the other having a sink/vanity and jacquzzi tub. Very nice when getting ready in the morning. The bedroom is big enough to be considered a room of it's own in other Disney resorts.

The washer/dryer is nice. You are able to pack lighter which is nice.

The kitchen is a nice feature, but we didn't use it that much. It was nice to have a refrigerator and a microwave, but the rest wasn't really that necessary. This year, however, I believe we will actually be having breakfasts in the Villa...

Villa. I wouldn't even think about the other choice. All for the same reasons already mentioned :)

How about both?

Nov 28th and 29th at BWI and rent points starting on Sunday for the next 6 nights at BWV :).

We stayed at BWV's last time and absolutely LOVED it. I was looking at staying there again until DH told me he would rather put up with the smaller room and stay Concierge. Who am I to argue ;).

Good luck making your decision :)

I also suggest both. Do the week through the Villas and the weekend at the end in the Boardwalk Inn, You will see your villas price go down dramatically when you take off those weekend points! I am a dvc owner and always switch to a deluxe for Fiday and Saturday. I just can not justify the weekend points. ;)

I would certainly chose the Villas. You do get more value out of them however, do not chose the Villas preferred view because you think you will get a Boardwalk View. Request a pool view. Chances are you will end up with that before a Boardwalk View. GOod luck

Just to offer a different view here.... a kitchen and washer/dryer are just what I am trying to get away from when I go to WDW. I'm not denying their convenience, just saying I don't want to be around either!;) We stayed at BWI with DH, DD (9), DS (6) and myself, we were perfectly comfortable. As for privacy, I guess we just know going in to the trip that it's not a romantic adult trip and my family is quite comfortable sharing a room as long as it has queen beds!:) You probably can't go wrong with either choice as the resort is wonderful, good luck.

Villas's with the switch and pool view. My DH won't do a villa either, but I would love the extra bathroom space and W/D. I NEVER intend to do laundry, but I always do, something always has to be washed.

Can't go wrong with either decision it's a great area!!:D

OMG!! Am I pink. I didn't even think of adult romantic. As a Mom, that didn't even cross my mind......but if you were to ask my dh ;) :) ;)
I was just thinking of more general space when the kids are at each others throat with the ability of shuting the bedroom door.

I'm afraid to ask my dear renter to change the room to a standard view wait list or to split the days. He has been very nice to deal with.

I really like the idea of splitting the stay - BWV during the week and BWI on the weekend. That said, if you couldn't or didn't want to split, I would go for the BWI. Your prices make the villa $314/night and the Inn room $195. PLUS, you still need another night offsite before you switch to the villa. I have stayed at the BWI and I love it. I think you will be quite comfortable in a standard room.

Now if money does not matter, by all means go for the one bedroom!!

(also, I am a DVC member - but I have not stayed in a one bedroom yet so maybe I would change my opinion when I do ;) )

That's exactly what my DW said when I brought up the idea of staying at a villa. I tried to convince her that I would do some of the laundry/cooking in the villa but she wasn't going for it.:teeth: She says the mere sight of a stove will ruin the magic. :D

Kim -

BWV just changed the policy about 2 weeks ago. You are either confirmed for a BW view or not. You should know this in advance if that makes a difference.

The 1 Bdrms are great. Personally, the little cooking and laundry don'r matter to me and save me a fortune!

I also agree though the weekend points are high so you may want to switch mid-trip.

Good luck
I'm sure you'll enjoy either

One thing I thought of. Even though the villa does cost more, sometimes it is so convenient to be able to fix something in the room, especially with kids. From experience, there have been times in the past where we wanted to sleep in or just hang out and relax in the room for a little while, and it was nice to be able to fix something for the kids without having to go out to get it.

Hi Kim. No one has mentioned the giant whirlpool tub at the BWV. I don't know where you live, but at my house we only have 1 tub that is small, and I have to share it with three kids. When we're at WDW, I love putting the kids to sleep (on the pullout, they've never complained), fixing myself a glass of something, and just lounging in that tub. It's a wonderful way to end the day. And sometimes very romantic too:teeth:

Thanks so much to everyone. :)
Alot of great suggestions.
In the long and the short of it all, I think we will be staying at BWI the first night and than moving over to BWV for the rest of our stay.
We really only get to Disney every other year (in the off year we visit my sister in Myrtle beach), so we might as well take the plunge and be comfortable.
I really appreciate everyones help.

You won't regret your choice. We've been DVC members since 1992 and I can't imagine not having the kitchen and W/D in our room. Even back before we had 2 DDs we always found good use for the fridge - bottles of water, soda and some wine to wind down after an exciting day in the park. I also keep snacks like string cheese, crackers, lunch meat, juice, fruit and some quick breakfast items around. Those $1+ per drink in the evening I don't miss. We just make a trip through Super Wal Mart on the way in. And I will buy things for there that I wouldn't normally have at home. Ice cream bars, maybe some Hot Pockets or something as a quick meal inbetween or when a PS we've planned for is a ways off. Also nice to be able to put in a video or DVD (they have them in Community Hall) for the kids to watch while Mom and Dad can watch a favorite show or something else in the other room. Also nice for sleeping in... How many other things can I come up with? A LOT!!

I think you'll be really happy with your choice. if I could afford a villa for our trip in Jan I would be going for that instead of a studio.

In your comparison you stated the additional cost to stay in the villa, but your costs are not really "apples to apples". A standard view room at BWI would be comparable to a studio at BWV, so that would be the best comparison. As others have stated here, there really is nothing better than a room for the adults and a jacuzzi to boot!

Have a terrific time!
