Need help ASAP! Would You Pay $109 for POP Century?

If it's the only way to be able to stay onsite, I'd take it. However, I feel guilty for paying $93 (with AAA) next week for POP and I think it would eat at me to pay more. If I could get a Moderate for under $130, I'd pay the extra money to better justify the overall expenditure. Otherwise, go and enjoy whatever you can get!!!

Yes!!!! I have also paid $109 for POP for a last minute trip and I have paid as low as $43.12 for a value. It was either rack rate or $69 offsite.I thought it would kill me to pay so much money, but, you know what, it didn't. It was worth every penny!!!

I would do it. I once paid about that much if not a bit more to stay and ASMusic. I had a 3 day advance notice that we were going on our first trip to wdw. Wasn't a deal, but we still had a great trip

A lot of people here get caught up in the discounts. However, if there are no AP rates available and you don't have AAA, I would still do it as long as I could afford it.

I say that if you can afford that much per night then do it! If you can't swing it then look off site. We've always said that if we can't afford to go to Disney and stay onsite then we just don't go. But that's just us. There are many perks staying onsite. Even if you have to stay offsite you will still have a wonderful trip! Good luck deciding!

I would do it at $109 per night....but, I would continue to call them a few times per day to see about any cancellations or better rates.

First off...you are paying $109 per night at a value....which is a preferred room rate. Rack rate for a regular room would be $99 per night and would save you close to $80 if you could "downgrade" to a regular room rather than a preferred room.

Second....I would check into AAA rate. It would knock off about 15% on your current price. At your $850 rate...you would save $127....then, it would probably cost you around $40 or $50 to join AAA and you'd come out about $77 to $87 cheaper....plus, you'd have a AAA membership for the year.

The only other thing I would suggest would be to call and ask for an AP discount at Pop or any of the other Value resorts and ask them to check each day individually. If the discount is available for a few of the days in your range you could make 2 reservations and save money that way. If you need further explanation on this, just PM me.....

I know you are probably running around frantically trying to get ready for this quick trip and you may not want to take the time to do all of these things to just save a few dollars here and there.

So...to answer your question....yes, if I could afford it.....I think Pop Century is a nice enough resort to warrant that price for all the Disney extras you get (transportation, EMH's, etc)....

I think Pop rocks! (Like that play on words? hehe) If that is the rate you can get, I would definitely say go for it versus staying off site. Just my two cents.

For some reason Pop is not on the list of hotels on AAA's site. I ran your dates the only thing they had at a Value was ASMu and ASsp @ $93 a night. That is saving you $112 in you join AAA but I wonder since AAA is still offering discounts have you tried these hotels for AP rates. Just like AP rates there are only a certain amount of AAA discounts offered or til a hotel reaches a certain percent amount of bookings meaning discounts are given til the resort is 75% booked (I made up number but you understand). Its going to be a busy week at Disney. I tried adding a night to our AKL stay and the only place with a FL rate was ASMu.

Before deciding whether to stay on-site or off-site I would check to see what hotels are available off-site. How close are they and how much? The last time I stayed off site it was at a Days Inn (suites) and it was horrible. I'd personally would rather pay and know Disney is taking care of me.

The value season starts on Monday the 17th I believe. Would it be possbile to spend two nights off property and then move on site if the rooms were cheaper that way? If not,then absolutely I would pay rack rate for Pop. I like the value resorts and it is on site which I love no matter where I am. Have a great trip.

We leave this Friday and start our stay at POP at the AAA rate on Saturday night. We did a plan, but we ended up saving about $100 on a 6 night stay. Since Saturday is a different season than the rest of our stay, it was a little more, so if we would have started a day later, it would have been a little more savings. We just booked this all a few weeks ago. We tried to book a 7th night at the AAA rate(22nd), but all they had were rooms at $113 at regular rate. I decided to do Priceline for that night because I didn't want to pay that much. The AAA rooms would probably be hard to get at this point, but you could always try. We loved POP last year and I probably would have done the $109 if I had to. If I hadn't been spoiled with the AAA rate for the first 6 nights, I would have done the $113 for the last. I have had AAA since I started driving and can't imagine not having it. I think if you can get a AAA rate, that the amount you pay for the membership is well worth it. That sounds like a good idea to split your stay. Or check into two separate reservations at pop since the rates change during your stay. It's worth checking into anyway!

Were there any AP rates available elsewhere beginning April 17th? I would stay offsite or stay at POP for the first few nights, and then move somewhere else if you can get a good rate.

I do know that when I booked my room at the Contemporary, I could only get the AP rate if I checked in on a weekday and not if I checked in on Saturday or Sunday like I originally wanted to do. You might call back and have them play around with your days a little bit.

Regular season starts on 4/17 which is a Sunday. Value season doesn't begin again til Aug 28 for Values and Mods or July 5 for Deluxes.

We have an AP, so parking and such wouldn't be a problem. I am talking about POP itself being worth the $109 = tax a night. I have only stayed at the All Stars once and we paid $49 a night, so that is kind of what I am comparing it to. Please keep the advice coming...

There were no AP rates available for anything!

$49 (plus tax) was the lowest AP rate for value season.....which May isn't.

I was at Pop during Mother's Day week last year, and I paid $66/night
plus tax for the AP rate. $99 is rack rate, and if there's no discounted
rooms left in inventory, I'd take it. I don't usually rent a car, so I find
it more convenient to stay onsite.

I'm paying $89/night at a Comfort Suites in Central Texas this coming Friday night. I'm a long way from WDW.

I'd pay the rack rate at PC if that is where you want to be and that's what it costs. Staying offsite means you'll have to drive to the parks or take their transportation. You won't get EMH. All round hassle.

AS someone else said, there are AAA rates on Pop. I have AAA there in late Sept/early August. (20% off in value season).
