Need guidance on point rental

Last October we rented points for our BCV stay. We want to stay again in a 2 bedroom BCV villa the first week of June 2004. When is the first opportunity we can actually enter into a contract with an owner for a confirmed ressie? I saw a post on the Rent/Trade board from someone who is looking to rent out their points for ressies that can begin June 2004 through June of 2005. I understood that until those points were actually available to the owner, a ressie cannot be made. I want to lock in my ressie as soon as possible, but only if I can get a confirmed ressie # upon my first payment on my ressie.

A reservation can not be made by the owner for June of 2004 until July of 2003. That is the 11 month window you hear so much about. But that still shouldn't stop you from contracting with someone now if you are sure of your travel dates. Especially if you can do something with some kind of a downpayment until the reservation is made. It would certainly be a way to lock in your vacation and at 11 months out, you would have no trouble booking what you want.

Thanks, HappyBirthdayCat. Although I am ready to start planning next year's vacation, I'm still uncomfortable putting money down towards a ressie that doesn't exist yet. I have another question. If I'm looking at a stay between the dates of May 30-June 4th of next year, do I need to wait until July 4th this year to get a reservation for the entire stay?

If your last night is June 4, then you would have to wait until July 5, for someone to make the whole reservation. But if you work something out with someone in advance to rent points from, they could call day by day for you to reserve one day at a time. People normally do this for hard to get reservations like BWV standard view rooms or OKW grand villas during holiday periods. You really shouldn't have to do that for that period of time however.
