Need expert help with this

I just purchased a resale contract that has 220 points that I must use by Dec 1 2008. The latest we can go is probably August. The contract will probably not close until March, but I am very nervous about waiting until then to make a reservation for Aug. Here's the question: If I BORROW points from my current contract to make a reservation for August now, will MS let me rebook that reservation with the points from my new contract in March??? What would happen to the points I borrowed? Thanks for any help.

It's unlikely they'll let you sub the new points for the old ones and any borrowed points could not be returned to the original use year and would have to stay borrowed. I'd say you chances of getting something with the new contract is excellent depending on how late in August you can go, the unit type you need and how flexible you are. You could also rent the points.

If you call in March, you are likely to find some availabilty for mid-late August, likely at OKW and SSR and possibly BWV preferred. It is one of DVC's "slow" seasons.

How about banking those points? Unless they were already banked.

I'd bet for Aug you wouldn't have a problem getting a reservation in March. Unless you are looking at AKV Concierge or something else that is hard to get.

I agree that later August means you should have a much easier time. I can't imagine you wouldn't get something. If by chance you don't or at least not what you prefer, don't forget to use the wait list.

Thanks everyone. The points were banked from '06. We are not picky however. Have liked every DVC resort
