I need some encouragement that my plans are perfectly acceptable. My birthday is in September and decided to plan a whole weekend of fun at WDW. I am going to have dinner at LTT and then go to MNSSHP on Friday, take a KTTK tour and then have dinner at Boma on Sunday, and have breakfast at the CP before heading out on Sunday. I have been really excited about these plans, especially that I was going to go solo for the entire trip. Every time I am at WDW I either meet up with people or go with others. I wanted a trip where I didn't have to compromise on anything and do everything I want. I was talking with my parents tonight and they offered to go with me. They said it seemed sad that I was celebrating my birthday all by myself. I keep telling myself that it is perfectly fine to go solo at WDW for my birthday, but now I am starting to have doubts about the whole thing. Any DISers out there do there birthdays solo at WDW and have a rip roaring good time? :confused3

While neither of us have done a solo trip we think it sounds like you've got a great weekend planned and we'd say go for it!! :thumbsup2

You're celebrating your b-day your way by doing what you want, when you want, at WDW...who could ask for more?

I'll be at WDW 8days/7nights solo in Nov celebrating a milestone - yup 50 years!
Next week I leave for my first completely solo WDW vacation - 8days/7nights and I am soooo much looking forward to it

have a happy birthday !

Go and have a blast girl. I did last year and really enjoyed myself . I did meet up with others during the NFFC Convention I attended but the down time was all mine and I wished I had more me time then! I got to meet and eat dinner with Margaret Kerry (the original model for Tink) Dinner was anywhee I wanted besides the NFFC with Tink...rode POC and HM as many times as I wanted! I'm 51....Enjoy your milestone....your parents are sweet but they would dampen a wonderful time!:hippie:

go have a blast!!! - boy if I lived in Gainsville - I would be down there every weekend (okay when I didn't have a class).

You can get the Florida seasonal pass you know.

if you want attention (too much is too much for me) - get one of those birthday pins at guest services.

I'm doin my Bday solo... i say go for it
I know im finally gonna get a present I'll like and not have to return lol

How very sweet of your parents to not want you to be alone.

I think for some people being alone ..especially on your birthday is probably the saddest thing they can think of.

But for some it is the biggest treat of all!

If you can sit down and explain to them that the idea of a whole weekend alone in Disney is a dream come true for you, it is NOT a reflection on not wanting to be with them or that you are depressed about your birthday, and that you just want to give yourself this special gift. I'm sure they'll understand.

It's YOUR birthday. If this is how you want to spend it and it makes you HAPPY, thn everyone should wish you happiness on your birthday and send you off! You're parents could always incorperate themselves into your day by planning to have something sent to your room. Giving you a birthday call etc..

Also could you celebrate with them before you leave or after you return? (since you are your parents child it's there day too in so many ways and they deserve to celebrate!)
Seems like a good compromise right? Happy Birthday! :flower3:

I'll be celebrating my birthday solo in December, but have already met others who will be there at the same time, so I don't expect to be alone. I look at it as an adventure! Enjoy and do just what you want to do on your special day!

I agree! Do what you want for a whole week. If you don't like it you never have to do it again. But if you do like it yahoo. Then you could go to Europe or Asia or where-ever you want. Definitely a personal growth moment! Have fun and Do what you wanna do! :cheer2:

Thank you for the encouragement. After having to explain for the millionth time why I like WDW to my friends (with whom I never would have had to explain a love of IoA or Universal), it really broke my spirit to talk with my parents about my trip. With your positive reinforcement, I am going to go forward with my trip! I guess I need to remember that I don't need to apologize to anyone or feel bad for doing something I want to do (as long as what I want is within the full confines of the law that is). Thank you again. I really needed to hear this.

Enjoy your 50th Birthday at WDW in November. pixiedust:

I have already started telling my family and friends that I will be celebrating my 50th at WDW in June 2010. They can join me, but I will set the agenda for the day of my birthday. :dancer:

silverarrowknits - I'll be spending the end of my September 07 birthday trip alone (DBFF is coming for the beginning, but can't get the rest of the time off work), when are you going? I'm planning to take the KTTK tour solo on sept. 27 if you want someone to go with!

Thanks for the offer, but I am going on the KTTK on Sept. 15th. Thank you for the offer though. That was really sweet.

I love alone time at Disney. Doing exactly what you want to do is what makes a vacation really great! I have done several solo trips to Disney and it is so relaxing and wonderful. A great present to yourself.::yes::

silverarrowknits - no problem! You'll have a great time, I love my solo time at WDW. I find I discover things that I've never noticed before! You get to do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do them! You can stop and browse or take pictures as much as you want (without someone yelling "c'mon!! Hurry up!!" at you!). Plus, most people are super friendly and will strike up conversations with you anyway, if you do start to feel lonely. You probably wont though! Another thing I realized was that I find out what it is I truly love about WDW and also about myself, it brings out the best thoughts in me! :)

I am taking my first solo trip in August for my 49th birthday. I just got Pirate and Princess ticket today! I am so excitied I have been to Disney many times, but never solo, never in my birthday month, and never to a special event party. I am also having dinner at the Castle during the week to celebrate my 49th with Fairy Godmother.

Silverarrowknits - GO FOR IT!!

I just went on my first solo last year, and it was GREAT!!!! I'm planning on going on my 40th next May!! What an awesome b-day gift for yourself.... hmmm spending your b-day at WDW!! I couldnt think of anything better!!!

You will have a blast!!

p.s. I'm planning my second solo Halloween trip as we speak! :)
