My DW, DS and I are WDW veterans, having taken at least one trip to the World each of the last nine years (sometimes two :)). Now, as a change of pace, we are thinking about taking a trip to Disneyland. What advice can you give me? I'm assuming that 1 1/2 to 2 days would suffice for each park? Where would you recommend we stay? Any tips on an itinerary? What other sites would you suggest in the area, without doing too much driving? For some reason my DS wants to go to the La Brea Tarpits :confused3. Any help on what this is?

My sincere thanks! :grouphug:

I don't know how much time you have to devote to the whole trip, but if you want to try to see and do as much as possible at DLR specifically, I would devote at least 3 days to the whole DLR part of the trip, and of course that involves hopping back and forth between parks, exploring DTD and the hotels, etc.

As for the Tar Pits (basically a lot of bubbling tar with fossils buried deep in it and statues of mastodons and things) - they are nowhere near DLR. Timewise, with no traffic on the freeway at all, they are about 45 minutes from DLR. With traffic, it is an entirely different story. You won't want to make a whole day out of the Tar Pits because, frankly, there is not much to do there. (I live, literally, right down the street from the Tar Pits.)

If you are going to make a day of driving up to this area of L.A. for the Tar Pits, then I would suggest this: See the Tar Pits, visit LACMA (which is right next door to the Tar Pits), The Grove at the world famous Farmers Market, maybe do a little jaunt up to Hollywood Boulevard and see the Disney Soda Fountain and Studio Store, possibly drive through Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive, the Santa Monica Pier, maybe down Sunset Blvd. to the beach, etc. Do a whole little day tour of L.A. by car.
