I want to make something "fun" for dinner tonight but I don't have a clue what to make (planning the menu is the worst part of cooking IMHO)!

Does anyone want to share what they are making tonight?

I'm making reservations at Morton's. ;) Sorry, I couldn't resist. But actually --- something "fun" for dinner--- do you fondue? DH and I love doing fondue - we set up small tables in the living room, pop a fab movie in, and fondue our hearts out! You could do the cheese thing, or get festive and fondue shrimp in a great broth, and of course, there's always chocolate fondue dessert!

The DIS has made me crave Chinese, but I think I will go with some kind of seafood.
Right now I am eating White Castle burgers.

We are having potluck at our church tonight, the main dish is saurekraut (sp?)....I will mainly be eating the side dishes. I am taking a Cheesy Hashbrown casserole and a Snicker Apple Salad.

I agree with you.....deciding what to have for dinner is the worst part of getting it ready.

Fresh oysters, broiled lobster tail, baked potato and salad.

Tomorrow, filet, mushrooms, bernaise sauce, asparagus and browned potatoes.

Wednesday, Slimfast.

I made a brisket last night in the crock pot that didn't finish cooking until 10:00. So I put it straight into the fridge as I went to bed last night, and we'll be eating that tonight.

We're having crabcakes, coconut shrimp and fried calamari with twice baked potatos and jalapeno poppers for apps.

I think we are getting Pizzaria Uno for dinner. However, for soemthign fun this time of year, I always like chili, with nachos, melted cheese, sour cream, and salsa.
If we had company like we thought we might, we were going to just do finer foods like mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, meatballs, nachos & dip, etc...

We are having some family and friends over tonight this is what we are having:

Meatballs, bar-b-qued sausages, cheesball & crackers, deviled eggs, pizza rolls (for the kids), these tiquilla things I found at wal-mart (chicken & cheese) Rum & Coke, peanutbutter pie, Baileys Irish Cream milkshakes, cookies, a cake, cheese tray.

If they leave my house hungry it is their own fault.

so I did the grocery thing after work. Collosal shrimp (10-12 per lb), yummmmmmmy. I also decided to make the easiest Sweet and Sour Meat Balls -

One Jar of Chili Sauce
One Jar of Grape Jellly (as close to the same size of Chili you can get)

One bag of premade meatballs

I used 18 OZ of jelly, 16 OZ of Chili, and about 1/2 bag of Italian Meatballs (bag of 76) Put it in the slow cooker on low at 1:30 pm, it can cook all afternoon, the meatballs were frozen.

And I got some sliced pepperoni, salami, cheese cubes, veggies and dip.

I am the queen of easy party prep, especially since it's just 2 of us.

Anybody wanna come over?

We make this all the time around here, it's GREAT.

Snicker Apple Salad

2 apples with peel, cut in bite-size pieces
2 bananas, sliced thick
2 regular size snickers, cut up
8 oz. container of whipped topping

Mix all ingredients together and serve.

Wow that snicker salad sounds great! I have everything here I think I will make that also to take to our friends house.

We're doing chicken wings & cheese fries.
Might send DH out to pick up some nachos, too. :teeth:
