Need cooking help ASAP!!

I have to use red wine in a braised chuck roast. What kind of red wine do you use? Heck, might as well suggest white wine so I can have that on hand as well. I need to get everything tonight for dinner tomorrow.

Thanks Dan...anything thing specific, I have no idea when it comes to wine, cooking or drinking for that matter (although I am willing to learn for both purposes)

I think Bergundy is the wine of choice when you cook beef. I think you will be fine with merlot though as Dan suggested. Just DON'T used cooking wine!

Emeril says whatever you would drink with dinner is what you should use to cook in the meal. Never ever use cooking wines. LOL

Oh Lisa, I know nothing beyond what suggestion I gave you. I am mostly a water, Diet Coke guy, LOL. I just know Merlot is the 'in wine' of the past few years, I have had a few glasses over that time and it tastes fine.

No help with wine, here. I just usually use plain old coke on my chuck roasts. Got one in the crockpot now.

If you're not willing to drink the wine, don't use it to cook with.

This is my current favorite. It's from Spain and it's a very nice wine to drink, therefore it's a joy to cook with. It's not very expensive either. You should be able to find it for less than $10/bottle:
